Keep in mind that his biggest beef iwth Bush is that Bush is a big government, borrow and spend and grease the jillionaires type or Republican. Ron Paul's problem isn't that he says crazy things--all Republicans do that--it's that he actually believes the things he says.

He's a Libertarian. He ran for President on the Libertarian ticket.

It's probably good to have one in the congress. Get a different viewpoint from the two main parties once in a while. Same thing for Bernie Sanders.

He seems to be one of the last principled conservatives in existance. So, even if you don't agree with what he has to say, at least you know that he's standing on some actual principles, unlike the sea of hate-filled reactionary wingnuts who'll shill for anything anti-liberal, which is all they really care about.

i know the gal who is mayor, she is closet dem. a while back i said something to her husband about it and he made it clear in no uncertain terms she was a republican

even if you were a dem, would have to run repug.

i hear this dude is libertarian though. that is another option if you dont want to run as a repug. we had races with repugs and libertarians. very few had a dem running

27. 2 things about Ann Richards before we canonize her...

1st, she won one gubernatorial election 15 years ago and she's won nothing since. She's a smart enough politician to quit while the quittin's good. 2nd, her victory only came about in 1990 because the Republicans had trashed the economy and, more importantly, her opponent spent half the campaign running around making jokes about rape. Back then, that'd cost you in an election round here. Today, I'm not so sure.

OK, we can no proceed toward canonizing Ann Richards. She really was a gift from heaven.

You won't find a more sincere man in Congress. He lives his values, however wrong his ideas are, and stands on principle. No one pushes him around--ever--and it's certainly cost him a lot of political opportunities with the Bushes in power.
