8. I don't accept the distinction between direct & indirect reference of VP.
In defamation law, you can be liable if a reasonably prudent person can extrapolate the missing details without a problem. Same case here. Why stand on Rove asserting that he didn't form the name Valerie Plame on his lips? I don't think that distinction is written into the federal statute.
