James Wolcott has a good column on chimpie's reaction to London
James Wolcott's blog has a good column contrasting the British reaction to 9/11 and chimpie's performance regarding the London bombings.

I wonder if Bush ever has any thoughts as to why he universally despised overseas. It couldn't be his own fault, could it?

1. You could have ended your last sentence after eight words
"I wonder if Bush ever has any thoughts?"

2. Wolcott asks:
"Has the United States or even simply Washington, DC held a silent moment for the victims of the London bombings? Has any national gesture of solidarity been proposed?"

Yes...Governor Mark Warner and his entire staff had a two minute vigil for those in London at the State Capitol in Richmond.

As for the rest of the article...we know our "president" is a disgrace.

4. For the first and only time in my life I will defend bush here. Going to.
London would only have added to their security nightmare at that time and surely would have looked like grandstanding. There I'm done.

5. But somehow, you can imagine Clinton insisting on going there.
I'm not a big fan of Clinton, these days, but sometimes it helps to ask "What Would Bill Do?" to realize how low we've sunk with this "presidency."

6. This struck me as well...
"I was watching the news of the two minutes of silence held for the victims of the London bombings, a silent vigil held not just in London but across Europe."

I wondered if I had missed an announcement of a moment of silence because I couldn't believe that we weren't doing the same thing. I, however, do trust that the Brits realize that this is the arrogance of Bush and not a reflection on the American public.

How very sad...
