OK so Rove says he learned it all from some journalist

Did he bother to authenticate the story or did he just repeat gossip? That should be asked as well. If he tried to authenticate the story and still released it to Cooper then he might be guilty of intentional leaking and if he didn't bother to authenticate the story but just spread it then he is a Gossip not fit for a security clearance and incompetent to boot.

I mean, Karl Rove couldn't possibly have known anything about anything, that's why he has to get all his top secret information about who's a spook and who isn't from Bob Novak.

A shame, really. You'd think that a man in Rove's position would have some kind of insider knowledge, but his partisans are arguing differently, and except for the fact that he could go to jail over this little contretemps, Rove really has no reason to lie does he?

After hearing Mr. Novak's account, the person who has been briefed on the matter said, Mr. Rove told the columnist: "I heard that, too."
