The Ripple Effect caused by outing Valerie Plame
Jack Rice, ex-CIA discussed the ramifications passed on to earlier CIA investigations that Valerie was involved with.

Rice:...every asset that she may have come acrossed is now potentially exposed

Jack Rice states an aspect of the case that hasn't received the attention it should. Her outing has potentially put many more operatives lives and their intelligence gathering skills at risk.

1. Sometimes I sort of wish that the CIA would take care of this problem....
Nah, I don't really wish that, but it might happen anyway. I'm sure there are some spooks who are plenty tempted....

5. I've always wondered about that myself
Some of the "old hands" at the agency must be pretty pissed at this administration. A large part of the failure to find WMD's was laid at the CIA's feet. Strangely enough, no one lost their jobs over this. Hmmmmm.

Now, the CIA finds itself discredited through no fault of its own. And the agency KNEW there were no WMD and said so. Bad job security move. Those analysts who found nothing of susbstance were told, "try again" by Cheney. Thus, the flow of bogus WMD claims began to filter through - "Niger Yellowcake", "Mobile Bio-Labs", "Aluminum Tubes" and my personal favorite "The Gas Centrifuge Buried in the Rose Garden."

Now, for a career professional, this kind of garbage must be galling. These guys know their jobs. They know that their work is used for political ends to an extent, but this was outrageous. And now they had to take the fall. Sort of. By prosecuting no one, the WHOLE CIA ORGANIZATION took the blame. And Tenent? HE gets a MEDAL.

So, certain elements within the CIA wanting revenge? You can bet on it.

2. At the time, I read somewhere that 28 people were killed
as a direct result of the leak. I can't find a link to save my butt, nor do I know if this was disproved at any time after the leak.

I wouldn't be surprised, though.

6. If you can find a link for this...
I would be very interesting in finding out more about it.

Anybody else hear this?

3. It's even bigger and worse than that
Novak ended up exposing the entire front firm of Brewster-Jennings & Associates. That means every operative that worked for that firm, and everyone who came in contact with every operative who used that firm as cover was potentially exposed.

10. Yes, and he exposed the company in a separate article. As if it wasn't
enough to just bring Plame down. Someone told him to shut down Brewster-Jennings too. I find this fascinating, seems maybe someone really wanted that CIA company taken down. Perhaps they were going to find out about something inconvenient to the administration.

9. As discussed on last nights 'Daily Show'
every government in the world is right now going over their books looking for her name. Any intelligence project she has ever worked on is now useless to the CIA.
