This is an article that appeared in a paper in a small town in West Tennessee. Since the moron that wrote this is also the editor of the paper, he writes pretty much whatever he wants, and has no problem letting all of the readers know his political views. It’s a sad commentary about the national media when the average American thinks the truth takes a back seat to editorial leanings.

It’s no secret that the editors of those entities that drive national news coverage - the newspapers of the major metropolitan dailies and the executives in what once were the big television networks - have little regard for the truth. Among the most sordid examples are from surveys in 1998 and 2001 about the perceived liberal bias in the national media, finding the perception to be the reality.

The 2001 survey, by the TechnoMetrica Institute of Policy and Politics for Editor & Publisher magazine, found that 58 percent of editors voted for Clinton in ‘92, and 57 percent backed him in ‘96. The public, on the other hand, gave Clinton 43 percent and 49 percent of the vote in those elections.

A 1997 Harris poll sponsored by the non-partisan Center for Media and Public Affairs detailed that three out of four Americans see a “fair amount” or “great deal” of political bias in the news.

2. Editor & Publisher poll is opt-in and not valid - Owners are GOP and

that can be proved. GOP owner bias to news is obvious(see Jack Welch - CEO of GE and thereby owner of NBC - telling NBC to declare Bush winner of election - and then what spin Russert should use in future comments - it is all on tape - and GE will not release to Congressman Waxman a copy of the tape - I wonder why?).

The Editor & Publisher "survey" asks if you have been an editor of anything ever - and then asks your political bias - and you mail card back. Anyone can get card - anyone can mail it back. Indeed the survey card return is a few thousand (editors and peons) out of a population of many hundred thousand, with no stat design to survey that a true poll must have if it is to even attempt to claim that it is "credible"

Older people in the rural US that do not have internet access (or wouldn't even know how to go about getting it) rely on local rags, and network news to inform them.
