"Who the Fuck are You"? by the Who, gets ABC sued by crazy parents group

An ultra conservative parents' group in America is demanding a fine to be levied on US network ABC for violating broadcast standards.

The Parents Television Council is urging authorities to take action against the network and its affiliates because it failed to censor a single swear word during the recent Live 8 concert in London's Hyde Park on July 2, 2005.

The offending song was "Who Are You" and the line was "who the fuck are you?" performed by Roger Daltry and Pete Townshend of The Who.

The hysterical television council filed an official complaint against WJLA in Washington, D.C., and asked authorities to take action against all ABC stations for failing to censor The Who's performance!

The agency later ruled that the f-word can violate indecency rules even when not used to describe sex. However, there was appropriately no fine in that awards-show case. Nor should there be one in this case. The inoffensive use of the word in the lyrics of an old song does not warrant agency action.

Seems the "complainants" had to take a 2 hour drive, climb over some rocks and get to the furthest reaches of a barely accessible beach to be "offended".
