1. I stopped giving money to Boy Scouts

when I learned of their anti-gay policies.

I stopped giving to United Way long before that.

because they support the boy scouts.

Sorry United Way, don't need to support your middleman costs.

AFAS the Boy Scouts, well, I won't dis the individual troops ...but the National Organization is a little out there IMHO.

BTW, I quit the scouts in the early 70's ... my troop made it mandatory to wear our uniforms to school on meeting days to support the VietNam war...I didn't take to well to that...

7. Yep, scouting around 1968.

Loads of fun. Absolutely ruined the concept of camping for me. A scoutmaster I remember with hate to this day. If we said we didn't want to wear the uniform to school, he'd ask us if we were ashamed of it. His idea of motivation was to call us names. And this guy was big cheese in the district council.

No loss for me...I learned more about outdoor life, loyalty, duty and honor among my friends than I ever did among the scouts...I was lucky.

I know BSOA is an excellent organization. Of course, I'm not black.

5. I was never a Boy Scout.

But I never would have thought they were so screwed up. First the gay thing. Then wasn't there some Christian conflict? And now this.

I was a YMCA Indian Guide. I thought that was pretty cool. My name was Little Bear.
