but I was flipping through the channels and I saw them pull a barrel out of the water. My first thought was "man, this is horrible", but it was actually an empty barrel. And they continued to discuss the empty barrel for 10 minutes. I couldn't stop watching, it was so insane.

My favorite Scarborough moment was last year when Hurricane Ivan was headed toward his hometown in Florida. The night before it was tracked to hit he signed off by saying we will be live tomorrow on the scene to cover the storm. I thought well that's pretty noble of him, going down with the ship so to speak in his hometown with the winds blowing and the rain hitting him in the face. I decided to tune in to watch the next night. So I turn on the set and there's big Joe in the comfort of his studio chair sending it out to Reagan Jr., who's blowing around the streets like a garbage can lid reporting on the storm....lol....you gotta love Joe....

Yeah, I feel for the family, but this isn't any more or less important than other missing people. Personally, I just don't feel these sorts of things are really deserving of this sort of massive media coverage. A local story, sure? But endless national exposure? Ridiculous. Don't we have more pressing issues to spend the bulk of our time worrying about? You know, a couple wars, heathcare crisis, huge national debt, etc, etc, etc, etc...

Unfortunantly, lots of people love following this stuff. Greta's ratings are through the roof, and you can see that hillbilly Scarborough is trying to tap into those numbers by running wall to wall Aruba coverage too.
