I was listening to the radio while out running errands last night and there was a talk show on where they were rehashing Rove's old campaigns here in Texas. Having lived here off and on, I've had several opportunities to vote for blivet** and have never done so, because I think the man has no more sense than God gave a goose. But listening to the Rove stories again brought back a lot of memories and made me realize that even if he had been a competent candidate I wouldn't have voted for him simply because of the sort of company he keeps. If you choose to surround yourself with people who routinely traffic in that sort of behavior, it says a lot more about your character -- or lack thereof -- than whether or not you claim to have strong religious beliefs.

I turned on Al Franken's show while I was driving to work, and heard them talking about Rove. I got some gas, and when I got back into my car, the first thing I heard was Franken and his saying, "yeah- his wife used to have a prescription drug habit".

I assumed they were talking about Rove's wife and I was disgusted. I thought, "I'm not listening to this creep ever again". Then they returned to the point and mentioned that it was McCain's wife who'd had a prescription drug addiction, and Karl Rove had used it as part of a smear campaign against him.

I *like* Al Franken, and I was about to turn him off forever because of (my mistakenly perceived) Rovian tactics. The Freepers are fully aware of Rove's tactics and love him for it.
