In my email today from a friend that voted for * (Dallas)
"Also, all of the IT community in the Sysco Corporation was fired on Tuesday. We have been out sourced to IBM and we have anywhere between 12 – 18 months before we are out. Of course I am not waiting that long. I am looking now for a new job. "

Isn't IBM outsourced to India?

3. For this one
It's gonna have to get alot worse before he does.
However, he is building a new home and moving in at the end of August.
I'll ask him this time next year.

2. True Story: I was hired than laid off from IBM: ON THE SAME DAY
That's right I'm been out of college for about 6 months now, but about 2 months ago I interviewed with IBM here in Tucson, AZ they really liked me I was told and that I was going to get the job as a Server Admin guy, but the company deleted the job so basically.....I got hired and laid off within 5 minutes.

But hey at least gays can't get married right!? hyuh hyuh..

5. You might consider counting your blessings...it's been my experience
(for 40 some years) that people who work for IBM are borderline goofy.
In some ways their employees are cult-like and, well, just plain weird.
One of my best friends went to work for them many long years ago and tried to get me to apply...but I saw changes in him that scared the shit outta me.

my hubby got outsourced from a Dallas telecom company two years ago, then got a call 2 hours later from a "contractor" to come back to do his EXACT same job but with no benefits and a paycut of 1/3

6. IBM outsources to India..
I don't know how long your friend has worked for Sysco but I have a feeling that looking for a job now is going to be an eyeopening experience. Too bad (s)he didn't look for a job before voting. In your reply you might mention that IT has been outsourced. Welcome to * world. They are lucky....I'd love to find a 12 - 18 month stint.

8. He's been there at least 10 years
but not sure exactly how many.
Yeah I don't think he is familiar with the glut of IT professionals in the Dallas area.
I can name 10 just off the top of my head.
Quite a few of the nurses that I have worked with over the past couple of years had husbands in the IT business. Every one of the nurses had to come back to full time after being able to work 1 shift a week because their husbands had been laid off.
