WOW! On MSNBC now, Pat Buchanan brings up memo and AIr Force One!
They were plugging this as politics and the leak, and Buchanan is turning it around to show how serious this charge is! Totally cool!

4. Pitchfork Pat Dropped His Talking Points?
Ya think Pat's smelling what's coming and going into CYA mode already?

The spin this weekend will be some for the ages.

15. Pat doesn't play that party loyalty game
He is one of the more decent conservatives in that respect.

19. He's Flakier Than Crumbcakes
Now is this the same Pitchfork Pat I saw with his Watergate bretheren of Liddy and Colton saying how evil Deep Throat was? And he's now going to play good cop here?

I know he's been a critic, on occasions, of this regime, but he always crawls back into the GOOP coven when it's time to sign on the dotted line.

24. Mr. "We are fighting a Culture War" is...decent?
He may be an iconoclast, but I seriously doubt that he could qualify as decent.

Where the Right Went Wrong: How Neoconservatives Subverted the Reagan Revolution and Hijacked the Bush Presidency (Hardcover)
by Patrick J. Buchanan "After the World Trade Center towers fell to earth on 9/11, taking the lives of three thousand Americans, Le Monde ran the banner "We Are..." (more)

In his indictment of the current Bush administration and its "neoconservative" policies, pundit and occasional presidential candidate Buchanan likens the American condition to that of Rome before the fall, citing "ominous analogies" such as "the decline of religion and morality, corruption of the commercial class, and a debased and decadent culture." According to Buchanan, the blame for this state of affairs rests squarely in the lap of "neoconservatives," who are mere liberals in sheep’s clothing. These neocons, the author contends, have wrestled control of the Republican party out of the hands of true conservatives such as himself, Barry Goldwater and, of course, Ronald Reagan—with disastrous results.

5. Why are we sooo grateful when someone actually tells the truth?
Under Republicans we have become a country of lies. See Paul Krugman's great column in todays NYT.

13. Buchanan wrote many excellent articles against Bushco in his American
Conservative Magazine. He is a traditional conservative and feels that the neocons have bastardized his beloved ideology.

27. well i tell you ohio, late last nite i was ranting to husband about all
lies. lie after lie after lie by this administration and republicans. and republicans like his parent and my father not syaing anything. i have gotten to the point where i am not even liking republicans. i am disgusted. that they are allowing all the lies to be a norm. as they continue to allow it

so yes, it is important whether we agree with buchannan on EVERYTHING, that he will stand up against the lies. it is important we acknowledge that and appreciate and value that. reward that. because too many damn republicans allow lie after lie after lie and this is going to become our new norm of acceptable in our politics.

now, dems are never going to get to the place of lying the republicans are. that just isnt them. they arent going to do it. might as well hand the country to repugs, if this lie after lie after lie is the norm.

so yes, it is a big deal when a person like buchannnan does not honor the talking points and actually stands on his own thinking

28. You know what they say
If there is no trust there is no way to form relationships. I was just thinking about how I am able to forgive certain acts and not others. I wish there were no such thing as lies but since almost everyone I know has admitted to lying about something I found it interestng to self examine what I can forgive in a lie and what I can't and how we all do this.

29. why is it so hard for me? well ohio, i assume you are sittin in ohio
i know the new, first female mayor. i know and my family knows and my husband knows the state senator.

btw, i live in texas

i cannot send an email to the newspaper with my name on it. that bothers me. because of their limited thinking, my voice is silenced. pisses me off

texas senators gave themselves quite a package. $. i want to ask our senator what kind of man is he to sign that in, as his people are strugglin and fightin so just to make it thru the next day

i would expect that support from my republican father. that knows everyone in town. and other cities. but i wont have his support, nor any other republican in this town. as he watches his son struggle in this system created by his party. and as he watches his grandkids have to figure out how to live in this fucked up world with very little support

being the bright man he is,......he sees the odds are against them. but he refuses to acknowledge.

my father i love and respect so, is being a coward

this is why it is a challenge for these things not, NOT to weigh in my interaction with my father. and others.

and this is just merely one very small piece of the whole. there are a zillion pieces i could give in example. and still, it effects a lot of people i love.
tell me. how do i shut that off. cause i dont know.

10. I thought I was in a parallel universe
when I heard what Buchanan was saying! He sees this for what it is and certainly is leaning away from the politics of it and focusing on the damage this causes.

Even when Alex Witless tried the old "she wasn't a covert operative" line, Buchanan corrected her by pointing out that Plame was working for a company that was a CIA cover and that as soon as her name was leaked, foreign countries would have been checking out everyone she'd ever been involved with.

Who would have ever thought that Buchanan would make our arguments for us???!!!!

Anyway, if I could pick an ally in a bar fight, I would pick Pat.

BTW, or state party leader (KY) used the word treason in reference to the Plame case. Saw that on TV today.
