So when are we getting a Saturday Night Massacre?
If Fitzgerald gets too close to Bush/Cheney, do you think he'll be fired, a la Nixon? I can't believe that Bush will sit by and let him discover all the facts.

1. I think it's too late, the story is out and I think it is now just
a matter of preparing the Indictments.

5. Why is it taking so long?
It's been what, 2 years? If there is going to be indictments, get them done. This is ridiculous. Get the testimony and nail whoever has committed any crime.

7. Or a matter of preparing the spin
rather than indictments.

3. Fired? No way.
He's been around for this long, they will let it play out. If someone has to fall on the sword, they will have someone do so.

4. Good point- I've been worrying about Wilson's safety as well.
He's speaking the truth and his facts have all being authenticated- except the one about Rove calling Chris Mathews and saying that his wife was "fair game". Not that I doubt that this happened - in fact I'm sure that it did, but I haven't heard anything from Matthews about it (unless I missed something). But I worry about Wilson's safety- these folks will stop at nothing...

6. Wilson is hiding in broad daylight.
That will ensure his safety. Something happening to him while he is in the spotlight just isn't logical.

9. Wilson lives with a spy, so he probably knows how to protect
himself.

Seriously, I have thought of that. I worry about him, and Fitzgerald.

I bet they have thought about a Saturday Night Massacre, at the very least. But that might cause the press to grow some teeth. They can't do it, now. It is too late, and they saw the furor that grew after Nixon's massacre.

Fitzgerald worked hard, and for a long time in Illinois to get Ryan. He just might be able to pull this off.

Tweety himself said he was called by Rove. Old news, yet underplayed. Not to worry though---the truth cometh.

8. I think it could happen
and what is worse the corporate media would not follow through like they did with Nixon, and it would be accepted

10. I'm shocked they didn't do it back when Gonzalez became Attourney General.
Edited on Sat Jul-16-05 11:40 AM by Stirk
It seemed like that was the logical next step. You know- appoint a toadie to be Attourney General, wait for some distraction, and shut down the investigation.

Arrogance strikes again, I suppose.

16. scared of huge false flag event
A lot of people are scared witless that they're going to pull a nuclear 9/11 part 2 or similar to create a national state of emergency and declare himself dictator. Also, with enough casualties he doesn't have to worry about pesky protesters anymore.

15. Can you say, "Constitutional Crisis"
Sure you can.

I would love for them to try that!!! It would plunge the country into a constitutional crisis. Then, just like during Watergate, everybody would unequivocally know how reckless and crooked they were. Public opinion would take a huge plunge, just like it did in Watergate.

But maybe they feel lucky. Go ahead. Make my day.

17. He can't take off the mask of being born again
If he starts acting like Nixon even the religious right will begin to
see the truth about him, his evangelical base is the only base he still has left. (No pun intended)
