The Conservative Voice: Blood in the Water (oh yeah...)
Edited on Sat Jul-16-05 04:30 PM by dooner
The conservatives are getting really nervous:

President vs Press: The Coming War by Pat Buchanan

<snip>

"Clearly, there is blood in the water. To listen to and look in the gleaming eyes of the liberal media on cable news, you can see they smell it.

Clearly, when Scott McClellan said no one in the White House had any connection with the outing of Joe Wilson's wife as a CIA operative, he was misled by White House colleagues. For we now know, from Matt Cooper's notes, that Rove cited Plame -- if not by name -- as promoting Wilson for the CIA-sponsored visit to Niger to check out the yellowcake story. But the White House press corps has begun treating McClellan not like a man who misspoke, but like some defiant inmate at Guantanamo.

What is causing the beginnings of a press feeding frenzy is a sense -- and probably correct -- that something big is coming down. After all, Patrick J. Fitzgerald has likely not spent two years turning over rocks without finding at least one lizard. And he and Judge Tom Hogan would probably not be sending journalists to jail unless they were onto something serious.

And if Judy Miller went to jail rather than reveal a source, why did the source not release her rather than have her go through this? Is she covering for a high White House aide with a criminal liability?"

====================
The rest is basic Buchanan b.s., not the brightest bulb in my opinion.

17. CCCP: Corporate Controlled Conservative Press
is my favorite term for them.

CNN ran a piece that it was Novak who leaked Plame to Rove instead of the other way.

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/07/15.html#a3964

Unless Rove had an associate call Novak first (which essntially means Rove leaked it), I doubt this.

6. Pat might be a Puke, but he's been around a LONG time!
He worked for Nixon! He knows how to spot problems brewing, and he's one of the few who's willing to say it!

I think Pat is a RW nut job most of the time, but he knows a lot from the inside out.

13. He did say they were mistakes! But what was he supposed to do?
I don't think he could legally have given them to Gore! The only way to have cured that problem was a complete revote of the State! That problem was truely cause by the poor ballot design!

I still blame both PArties for not having the courage to recount the whoe state! Both were afraid of the outcome and insisted on a legal battle.

15. I agree. PattyPattyBukeBuke is 97% frothing lunatic, but
every once in a while he hits something on the head on a traditional consrvative issue like fiscal responsibility or frivolousness of certain overseas military action.

This time, as a former Nixonite, he recognizes the sound that shit makes when it hits a fan.

9. I think Miller was involved in the crime.
I don't believe she is don't something noble, she is covering her own criminal behavior.

10. oh my
What a piece of garbage this article is. Pat wants to frame this as a liberal press vs republican president battle, yadda yadda. Yet here he is admitting Scotty lied, or someone else lied to Scotty, admitting there are likely laws which were broke, and, while being a media star himself, blaming these things on the press. Garbage.

14. He's a 7-watt mind behind a 100-decibel mouth.
He look at the facts, digests them, and produces shit ... with small bits of undigested truth embedded in it. I'll leave it to others to paw through the fecal matter. :shrug:

18. SCLM Had To Be Dragged Kicking And Screaming
The so-called "liberal media" had to be dragged kicking and screaming into paying even as much attention as they are now giving to Valerie Plame's outing. The gutless place-holders of the Fourth Estate have proven time and time again since George W. Bush announced his attention to run for President back in 2000 that they lacked the nerve or the staying power to investigate either Bush, his cronies, his campaign tactics and, after he was "selected" in 2000, his policies or his governing practices. From Buckaroo Bush's first claim that he could cut taxes and balance the budget to his recent Social Security "reform" initiative, the cowardly corporate media's guts have quivered like Jello when it came to the thought of actually investigating Gee Dubya's Duck Soup Posse, its policies, or its connections with special interests.

The fact that the sad sacks in the corporate media's editorial offices are even paying this much attention shows that the stench of this regime's scandals are getting so whiff that even the news critters are going to have to pay attention--or risk being scooped by the foreign press.
