Is the State Department Memo the Smoking Gun?
Edited on Sat Jul-16-05 06:02 PM by Must_B_Free
My questions are:

1. Is Wilson/Plame name relevant here? Does one preserve her cover and the other not?

2. Is the memo disseminating the information to those who are't privileged to know and is that illegal?

3. Does it represent a strategy and if so how compound?

4. Does it implicate all receivers in an illegal conspiracy?

5. If there is a strategy implied by this memo, it speaks to what the conspiracy is attempting do defend. Is the sum of what is being defended an even larger conspiracy.

6. is the secret leaker of the investigation material from a traditional republican camp like a Mccain camp that is getting it's revenge on the Neocons?

1. Just about the name thing, I don't think "Wilson" preserves
her cover - anyone interested could have very quickly got the other name - but I don't think that necessarily makes the choice of name insignificant in itself, because the use of "Plame" seems to indicate a knowledge of its undercover use. There doesn't seem to be any other reason to use that name, since she went by Valerie Wilson in normal life.

If you buy that, then it seems to indicate a different ultimate source than (those who just read) the memo, which uses "Wilson".

Maybe that's why Miller is still toughing it out inside?

2. smoking gun
I think the memo is the smoking gun!!

If a memo was being distrubuted at the White House regarding her identity (that she was married to Wilson) it could possibly lead to a conspiracy charge. And if a conspiracy is what this is about, maybe that's why the White House seems to think it's not a big deal......because they know that other people have done similar things, if not worse!!
