A question: Can we activate the DU Activists Corp to get Guy James on AA?
Edited on Sat Jul-16-05 06:38 PM by JanMichael
Is there a form I need to fill out or a requisition request?

He's a DUer on a major SW Florida station that's trying to snuff out his Progressive Liberal voice so why not start a campaign?

Would it work?

Edit: Go go DU Activist pack! Of Power DU Activists ACTIVATE!

3. Ok, I'm a dolt, where is that thread?
I looked at the DU Activists board and there's a pinned thread but apparently that's just marching orders on Rove.

What did I miss?

16. that is Minnesotan Al Franken you are thinking of
Springer has been suggested as a candidate in Ohio since at least the summer of 1999. Because, of course, the first qualification needed to run for office is - celebrity status.

6. If AAR doesn't want him Pittsburgh PA could use more
over the airwaves Liberal talk shows. We have one....Lynne Cullen.

One.

No AAR except satellite or inet stream.

One over the air liberal talk show. 3 hours a day - 9 to 12.

I know Pittsburgh ain't sunny FLA, but at least it is BLUE.

14. Lynne Rocks.
But I hate how they keep moving her around....I get the feeling the station is trying to lower her ratings so they can justify letting her go...but they can't.

I never have problems with Surfnet....it's real player that give's me the issues. Surfnet's stream never fails, or crashes...real player is always timing out for me. Go figure.

Just a thought. I've always enjoyed Guy James.

13. I think this is a good idea. Sort of. I'm not sure the DU group is the
exactly the way to do it.

I'm prepared to send some personal e-mails to AAR talking Guy up. That's where the real strength may lie. If he could only just get his foot in the door doing weekends, when Frankin leaves, he might get a 5 day gig.

If AAR gets enough e-mails from his fans (us) they may notice him and have a listen to what he's doing.

But national radio is a tough thing to break into. I dearly wish that Guy had more resources and wasn't hog-tied by that freeper station he currently broadcasts from, but you have to work with what you have.

17. Shit if that were possible, I'd ask AAR to add the excellent Thom Hartmann
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 01:07 PM by LaPera
No one is better than Hartmann. No one! I put Hartmann in the same league as my other two favorites Mike Malloy & Randi Rhodes.

Hartmann is unbelievably knowledgeable, astute, dedicated, clever and a passionate liberal progressive.

Thom knocks me out the way he handles freepers and keeps his show moving all the time at a very interesting and enteraining pace...

That's who I wish AAR would pick up...Hartmann, would be an asset and gold mine for AAR!!!

I adore Hartmann. I think his voice spread all across our airwaves would do more than just about anything else to bring people back to true democracy. He's awesome.

Edited to add: I think Guy's show is awesome too. We need all of the people on our side to spread far and wide on the airwaves, ASAP.

19. BUT, THIS thread isn't about Thom Hartmann. It's about Guy James.
Guy has been a LONGTIME DU member and he deserves our help for all he has done for us and our Progressive causes.

I just emailed AAR! :hi:

21. I love Thom Hartmann too. He is one of the best voices we have and
I would LOVE to have him on AAR, but I would also like to see Guy James on also. Especially when we consider what the RW corporation that owns the network is doing to him. He's one hell of a Progressive voice and we need him. Guy James is a DUer and we DUers need to stick together. :) Have you ever listened to Guy? He's GREAT!
