The 2006 5 Point Dem Strategy
Just some random thoughts by me. But when we go grassroots in '06, this is what I'll be using. Now, I just have to find me a campaign to work on. :D

1. Continue to portray Bush and Co as "weak", "unpatriotic", out of touch with traditional American ideals such as "we the people" vs. "me", etc. Ex: Big corporations versus ordinary, working class Americans.

2. Avoid portraying them and their types as "extremists" since they are armed and ready to respond.

3. Deny them the "straw man" (letting them portray the middle and left rather than allowing those in the middle and on the left the opportunity to portray themselves).

4. Push left rather than push back. Many core American ideals are very leftist and I plan pushing them within that imagery.

5. Continue to ask simple questions that they can't answer--why does the right "hate" people of color or people of different lifestyles. Hate being the operative word. Never allow them "compassionate". Ask them, what is the gameplan for Iraq? After 4 years, shouldn't we have something to show for our efforts in Afghanistan?

1. As respect #1, I wish the Dems would forcefully oppose
corp imminent domain, that one issue alone would get us far. Sort of go back to the populist roots of the party. I live in a rural area, and you would not believe how worked up people are about that.

Hopefully we can force the issue of the type of things the far right religious repubs want to do, and contrast that with true Christianity. Also, I doubt many Americans, myself included, want that kind of religious control in our daily lives. I am specifically thinking about birth control and divorce here, but I am sure there are many other examples.
