Bush had to know!
Bush had to know. Why? Because on BradBlog's show they played an audio file and McClellan stated "The President knows Karl Rove wasn't involved" and now it's been proven other wise! So Bush knew, McClellan knew and Ari had to know too! McClellan is given talking points so who gives McClellan talking points?

2. he knew because they were all around AF1 with the Wilson 'work up"
or whatever crap stupid Colin was waving around.

This was a planned political smear operation. Classic Rove. Bush knew from the start and he is lying.
He has lied in public over and over. Get them under oath and the perjury and lies will be falling like guano in a bat cave.

3. They are in denial.
At this point, they probably still believe their own spin. They were all part of a conspiracy. But, because the conspiracy was their reality, and because they felt self-righteous about their roles in it, they do not yet realize that they did something wrong. They are not ready to admit to themselves or anyone else.

Nixon remained in denial about Watergate. I don't know if he ever admitted that covering up the break-in was wrong. Clinton finally had to come clean about Monica, but it took a while for him to reconcile himself with the fact that everyone knew what really happened. If it hadn't been for the stain on the blue dress, who knows if he would every have been able to face the shame of having made such a stupid mistake and of having lied.

The Plame affair is not the only matter about which the Bushies are in denial! They have lied to themselves and others about so many things. They are denying how serious the whole Iraq mess is, how bad the economy and unemployment are, a slew of tough things. Their house of denial is just starting to crumble. Things will get worse for them before they get better. The more they cling to their lies and excuses, the more they will enmesh themselves in them. It's very sad. The country is paying a terrible price for the Iraq mess, the lies and the manipulations that took us to war. And we are just starting to count the cost. It will mount and mount with time.

4. The Clinton affair was no ones business except for the 3 involved.
Quit equating an consensual affair to anything this administration has done. There is no comparison.
With Clinton it was a civil matter anyway, not a criminal matter involving treason and the deaths of 10's of thousands. Also Clinton's "lie" had nothing to do with the case at hand. If you or I had done the same thing, we'd walk because no law was broken.

5. You are right
The matters cannot be equated in all senses. What is similar is the way people, not just politicians, respond when accused of something they did that they wish they had not done. Even if it wasn't a crime, I believe that Clinton went into genuine denial. We all do that. Rove and the whole Bush administration are doing that. Even if they conspired to out Plame, they are doing denying their conspiracy. It is not a contradiction to conspire to do something illegal and then refuse to admit even to yourself that what you did was illegal.

6. He meant that bush "knows in his heart that Karl wasn't involved"
Anyone around here got that quote where bush talks about what he "knows," that he just "knows" things and that's good enough for him? I can't remember what the subject was, but he was defending something he had done based on his gut feeling, I guess.

Which kind of begs the question: How can someone with no guts have a gut feeling about anything?

8. Scottie should be more clear and have said "knows in his heart"
Because that implies something completely different.

If the president knew that Karl didn't do the leaking then he must have already known who did do it... look at all of the boastful statements they made up until Time released Cooper's email.

I wouldn't be surprised if the president not only knew who did it but his advisors also had told him that the GJ would come to the same conclusions. They were supremely confident in the outcome until recently.

Clearly, that has shifted because the White House is now stonewalling... and I don't think they are just stonewalling about Rove. They are stonewalling because of where the Rove questions will lead... maybe to the important question: "What did the president know and when did he know it"

If there wasn't something bigger going on here, I think that Bush and McClellan would still be defending Rove vocally instead of by association in walks out to Marine One. I think that this goes to show that the president thinks that Rove still will not be indicted. But the stonewalling indicates that the White House now fears this investigation for other reasons.
