At this point, they probably still believe their own spin. They were all part of a conspiracy. But, because the conspiracy was their reality, and because they felt self-righteous about their roles in it, they do not yet realize that they did something wrong. They are not ready to admit to themselves or anyone else.
Nixon remained in denial about Watergate. I don't know if he ever admitted that covering up the break-in was wrong. Clinton finally had to come clean about Monica, but it took a while for him to reconcile himself with the fact that everyone knew what really happened. If it hadn't been for the stain on the blue dress, who knows if he would every have been able to face the shame of having made such a stupid mistake and of having lied.
The Plame affair is not the only matter about which the Bushies are in denial! They have lied to themselves and others about so many things. They are denying how serious the whole Iraq mess is, how bad the economy and unemployment are, a slew of tough things. Their house of denial is just starting to crumble. Things will get worse for them before they get better. The more they cling to their lies and excuses, the more they will enmesh themselves in them. It's very sad. The country is paying a terrible price for the Iraq mess, the lies and the manipulations that took us to war. And we are just starting to count the cost. It will mount and mount with time.
