Something smells very bad here, anonyomous source, people seeing Powell walking around with THE memorandum. Someone is setting him up for the fall, and will he be a good soldier and take it. Does he think he will end up like North with Iran/contra because of his popularity?

1. Except...

...the memo identifies her as Valerie Wilson, not Valerie Plame. Also, the called someone in the middle on the night to get this memo - somehow I don't think the memo was critical to State Department functions. Someone at the White House wanted it, and got them to give it to Powell, who was going to be on the plane.

If Powell were guilty, he would have a lawyer. He doesn't.

Are they trying to deflect the heat from Rove to someone else - yes. Is the public buying it - maybe. Is Powell actually guilty - I don't think so, and I don't think Fitz is buying it either. If it were Powell, it would be the guys at State who leaked to the press, not guys at the White House.

I think it's Rove, Bush and Cheney Fitz is after.

but if they are setting him up to be the fall guy, with or without his knowledge. Yes I do agree they are trying to deflect the heat from Rove, with all these anynomous leaks from the Grand Jury

11. I'm thinking the anonymous source in this case (and a lot of

what we've been seeing in the past few days) is Rove's lawyer, Luskin. Seemed like a lot of people weren't buying what he was selling when they knew he was being paid by Rove, so maybe he's going the anonymous route - since it's worked so well for the White House. :sarcasm:

he surfaces again. For a while, I thought he'd never leave to fade from the public's memory (recall last December).

Thank God, he finally gave up the ghost. I was hoping he'd settle down and start writing his "memoiors", all done in first-person singular. "I saved..." "I rescued....", "Because of me, the US...bla bla bla.

I was hoping that would keep him real busy. But no....now he's got a role to play, once again. This time, it's the Knight in Shining Armor, the Loyal Soldier who will fall on his sword to protect Bush.
