Supreme Court to block depositions for Gov. Taft

Bob Taft has asked the Ohio Supreme Court to protect him from testifying under oath about memos sent between his office and the Bureau of Workers Comp. about state investments. He asked the court on Thursday to grant a motion to prevent him and five current or former meembers of his administration from giving depositions in a lawsuit filed by State. Sen. Marc Dann (Youngstown Democrat).
the court gave Dann until Monday to respond. to Tafts request.
Lawyers for Taft say the records are protected by executive privilege.
Danns lawsuit ased the Court to order Taft tp re;aease weekly memos between Tafts office and the Bureau from 1998 to 2004.
Kathleen Trafford, a Coulumbus attorney hired by by the attorney generals office to represent Taft told the court that Dann's plan to depose Taft and the others could set a precedent for misusing public records complaints as inquisitory tools for policital purposes.
Danns attorney said he will fight the motion and noted that the Court has never directly addressed wehether such a privilege exists.

It would seem that if Taft is asserting a principled position in a case of clearly historic proportions he would be willing to stand up
and answer questions of why hes entitled to such extraordinary protection.
I mean what the hell its only 300 million that helped Bush
take Ohio. Every Ohioan should be petitioning for Tafts resignation.
