Crossfire: Carville Quotes Powell
the 2001 speech were he claimed that Saddam was contained and not a threat, but he then went along with the lie. Carville said we now know the war was based on lies

22. A gentle FYI
No one is "confined" to a wheelchair, unless they are bound by ropes, etc ala Hannibal Lecter.

20. Bitch To Be Bowtie Boy
Unlike O'Reilly or Hannity or Rust, poor Tucker has to actually face some real opposition...and generally gets his ears boxed in. There are times I almost feel sorry for the boy...you can see he's so uncomfortable having to shill for the reptiles that regularly sit next to him.

While Novak doesn't give a shit anymore, Tucker doesn't look like he's too comfy living in the same hive with Coulter and Pearle. You can see the boy actually does have a conscious...he's just been sheltered too long and now is starting to smell fresh air for the first time.

Any idea where Tucker grew up? He reminds me of the geek who discovers that girls and partying is more fun than playing with a slide rule but just can't break through. But then I'm describing a lot of these doofus Repugnicans.

It'll be interesting to see if Faux responds and who gets the honors. O'Reilly is too busy busting veins over Franken (can this guy get any more vain and/or paranoid?) and Hannity is just reading the talking points and trying, vainly, to keep the blame-it-on-the-Clinton/beware-of-the-Clintons mantra loud enough to distract.

I haven't seen Faux ratings lately, but I get a sneaking suspicion that their Fall book (the one they use to milk their GOP advertisers for big Xmas bucks) has fallen just like their manchild.

Go Tucker! We're here and ready for your redemption. It's not too late!!!

9. Guess what the new spin on this issue is!
A freeper friend of mine (one I've been arguing with for the last 3 years) told me today that Bush "never said that Saddam was an "imminent threat!" The spin is that he never actually used the words "imminent threat" and that what he really meant was that we should attack Iraq BEFORE they aquire WMD's! Here's a peek at the spin:

From "Freeper Boy":

"Your own words doom you:"They should not be idle while a threat gathers against them. He added that the country could not wait for the final proof that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction to "come in the form of a mushroom cloud."

What dont you understand der guy ? He said "why wait for the final proof"...Did not say, "we have the final proof, he is going to use them, or is an imminent threat"...He could have very easily said that if he meant it...But he did not. The idea was given Iraq's documented history of WMD and use of them, to not wait for an imminent threat, and then act. Its that simple, it was the Bush Doctrine. You may disagree with the policy, but youre plain ignoring the words and reading what you want to see for political purposes."

Frankly, it's getting pretty interesting out there. They're spinning like a top on this.

10. They won't buy this, though.
When Clinton said, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman....," he was technically correct according the legal definition of sexual relations. That argument didn't get him very far. Hopefully, the Shrub won't get any farther with his attempt to spin this.

11. Send your friend these quotes:
Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction.

Dick Cheney August 26, 2002

Right now, Iraq is expanding and improving facilities that were used for the production of biological weapons.

George W. Bush September 12, 2002

If he declares he has none, then we will know that Saddam Hussein is once again misleading the world.

Ari Fleischer December 2, 2002

We know for a fact that there are weapons there.

Ari Fleischer January 9, 2003

Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent.

George W. Bush January 28, 2003

We know that Saddam Hussein is determined to keep his weapons of mass destruction, is determined to make more.

Colin Powell February 5, 2003

We have sources that tell us that Saddam Hussein recently authorized Iraqi field commanders to use chemical weapons -- the very weapons the dictator tells us he does not have.

George Bush February 8, 2003

So has the strategic decision been made to disarm Iraq of its weapons of mass destruction by the leadership in Baghdad? I think
our judgment has to be clearly not.

Colin Powell March 8, 2003

Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised.

George Bush March 18, 2003

We know where they are. They are in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad.

Donald Rumsfeld March 30, 2003

21. FYI - I was trolling freepville and they are all saying that NOW!
It's hilarious.

Also, the other "talking point" is * NEVER said "Mission Accomplished." The banner behind him was a leftover from something of the ship....yeah, right. And all the other backdrops behind * when he speaks <e.g., Clear Skies> etc are what? Leftovers from Bush I?

It such a joke to read it... this backtracking now, because you can look at "old" posts about 9/11 and SH. And there was always the ubiquitous "We'll never forget."

I would love to be a salesperson to these people. I would be rich!

17. Hang The Bastidge...
All you do is say two words...NORTH KOREA.

How's freeperboy gonna we shouldn't be carpet bombing Pyongyang or Teheran for that matter?

And then there are many other nations that are "suspect" of bio programs...like Libya and Cuba. Is freeper boy ready to run down and enlist? Do him a favor, offer him the plane fare if he's such a patriot and so willing to defend our nation from such "threats".

Does this guy live in a hive?

BTW...my late father would always correct me when I would call someone like this type a "friend"...he'd always say it was an acquaintence.

19. Yeah! The Fargin' Icehole!
He actually is a friend. Law school chum who apparently got hit in the head one too many times. I already challenged him to enlist. His response is that "you don't have to be in the armed forces to want to protect our country."

(BTW, my favorite line from "Johnny Dangerously" is the headline: "It's Fargin'War!").

27. Doesn't use the word "imminent," but...
October 7, 2002
Bush in Cincinnati

From his opening words...

"Thank you for that very gracious and warm Cincinnati welcome. I'm honored to be here tonight. I appreciate you all coming.

Tonight I want to take a few minutes to discuss a grave threat to peace and America's determination to lead the world in confronting that threat.

The threat comes from Iraq. It arises directly from the Iraqi regime's own actions, its history of aggression and its drive toward an arsenal of terror."

28. More from the Cincy speech
"We also must never forget the most vivid events of recent history. On September 11, 2001, America felt its vulnerability -- even to threats that gather on the other side of the earth. We resolved then, and we are resolved today, to confront every threat, from any source, that could bring sudden terror and suffering to America."

12. Funny one!
Carville just asked the repuke congressman:
"What would you rather to do pay for the $87 billion extra war cost? Borrow more money or undo tax cut for richest 1%"

Answer: "Blah blah, uh uh uh, economy getting better, uh, blah blah"

Freaked him totally out.

Love Carville.

14. ABC Radio's SPIN
I heard an ABC reporter ask about Powell's statements yesterday on TV. Bush's response was essentially a cop out -- that 9.11 changed things. No answer to the possibility of a Powell lie.

A few minutes later I was in my car listening to ABC radio news and the lead-in to Bush's non-answer was, "ABC reporter so-and-so asked Bush if 9.11 changed things."

NO, you ABC hacks. We heard the question. It was about Powell being factually contradictory. You can spin it if you want, but hey, it's your credibility.

26. So THAT's how it works....
Reporter: Powell said in early 2001 that sanctions had all but eliminated Saddam's WMD programs.

Bush: 9/11 changed everything

Reporter (what he should've said): So there was some sort of magical reaction, caused by terrorists acts in the USA, which suddenly caused the WMD programs to go from 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye?
