8. It is amazing what people don't know.
Tell them to do a little reading on Iraq and then get back to you. Guide them to sites like TruthOut and BuzzFlash or Michael Moore's site.

Good God in Heaven, what is happening to this country?

13. In the 1960s, these same idiots were saying
that Catholics worshipped idols and if Kennedy were elected, the Pope would be in charge. A little more beningn, but basically the same ignorance and prejudice.

9. Then there's the Ku Klux Klan.
A hundred years of terrorism there. And the Peruvian Sendero Luminoso. And the IRA -- blowing stuff up for 30 years. The definition of terrorist used by our own State Department is someone who inflicts violence on a civilian target to advance a political or ideological cause. I'm sure we can think of many others who fit that definition.

10. The Right to Life nuts
who think it is perfectly fine to kill doctors and bomb family planning clinics come to mind.....

If someone was idiotic enough to say something like that in the town where I work, I'd say, "Oh, so you think Dr. Ali ______, the local heart surgeon, is a terrorist?" There are a lot of small towns in America who have Muslim doctors; some are the ONLY doctor in the area. Bring the argument home-talk about people that they know, so they can see how foolish the question is.

11. Sounds like a "teaching opportunity" to me..
If this was asked in innocence, it is one of those moments that makes reading every last friggen thread in DU day after day worthwhile.
You have, at your fingertips, all the information you need to answer this person. Give him (or her) only as much truth as you think he/she can handle... and when this leads to more questions (and it probably will) you will be ready.

It wasn't Muslims that committed this terrorist act.

19. Comical, since the ReichWingers list
environmentalists as terror groups - How many environmentalists are Muslim? (BTW, as soon as the "crackdown" on terrorist groups was announced, I accurately predicted that Rush Limbaugh would lobby to put environmentalists, gays/lesbians, and NOW on the list).

According to the Dept. of Homeland Security.

Surprisingly, the KKK is not listed among them.

It's bad enough Americans don't know ancient history, but less than fifteen years ago?
