3. Thanks
Stripes reported only those names...I wonder if the others were so bad they couldn't be identified. It's certainly a tragedy over there.

2. Thank you for posting what the media is too busy to report.
Excuse my ignorance but what does OIF stand for? Official Iraq Fatalities? I'm guessing.
Also, can you tell me what constitutes an Iraq fatality? Are soldiers who die in Germany counted. Are soldiers who die of combat related wounds one or six months later included in the number. Can you tell me how this works?

5. bush's "Operation Iraqi Freedom"; it was "Op Iraqi Liberation", aka OIL,

but even bush & Cartel realized that wasn't a great idea.

Yes, troops wounded in Iraq but die outside of Iraq are counted.

6. Sure
According to military code, anyone who is killed in action is to be placed in total WAR casualty. So if SPC Guerilla is killed by a grenade while patrolling Tikrit, he will be one of the war dead.

Here's the tricky part.

If SPC Guerilla is wounded by this grenade, then is shipped to Germany for care, He has a 48 hour window to be alive. If he dies in Germany after 48 hours, he isn't considered war dead, simply another casualty.

This instruction only came to be in 2001. Was the military expecting mass troop deaths, and needed a way to mask it's true numbers? You bet your ass they were.

This is what's different than 'Nam.

This is why the true numbers of war dead is unknown.

8. Untrue. If PFC Smith dies from wounds received ten months
after the fact, his death is recorded on ICCC. The date of death is recorded as the date the soldiers passed away. Look up fatality details and play with the filters. Every military death from wounds is reported on this site.
