We Get Our Ass Beat in 2006 Once Again
if we don't straighten up and straighten up NOW! The country is now anti-Bush and anti-war... YAY, we've gotten to that point. That is a critical point in winning the next election, but having an alternative message is another.

What is our alternative message? To have Tom Vilsack, Al From, and Ed Rendell to suck it up on TV? Or what about not actually tackling the wedge issues and EXPLAINING why we take those positions (ex: abortion rights). Republicans do it, why don't we Democrats give it a shot? Where are our talking points and one-liners? Where are our campaign tactics?

I honestly don't know. But I do know one thing, if this crap keeps up we are going to lose, lose, lose, and lose some more in November of 2006. I don't know if I could stand to see it! :grr:

LET'S ROLL

1. Democrats have to be Democrats and not Republican suck ups.
We won't win in 2006 if we lock step behind the current regime rather than raising all kinds of hell. Some are outspoken (the usual suspects), but a whole lot more are nauseating lap dogs.

2. They are on the defense now--just find every link to the WH
your midterm candidates have, exploit them, and we walk into a majority.

It isn't going to be easy, but it will work.

3. I suspect the fight between the DLC and the DNC
is a good part of our problem. As usual, the Democrats can't keep from fighting each other.

4. And exactly what platform.........
do we explain these issues from? The "Liberal Media"? They're too busy echoing the right-wing talking points.
It all starts at the local level in my opinion. Each and every one of us has to GET ACTIVE at the local level. If we don't do that, we WILL be screwed in '06. We start from the bottom and work our way up, just as the Pukes did when they were down and out. Remember, they didn't come into all this power overnight. They had a 25 YEAR PLAN to grasp and hold onto power. We probably don't have to wait that long after the cluster fuck of the bush administration, but we DO have to start locally and start NOW!

5. Well, we've got a forum. Let's come up with a message.
I, for one, would like to see deficit spending come under control so my children's children aren't bankrupted to pay for BushCo.

I'd like to see Social Security firmed up, WITHOUT private accounts.

I'd like to see something done about the mass exodus of jobs overseas, and the current trade deficit.

I'd like to see something done about housing affordability.

I'd like to see something done about the crisis, not only in health care, but in health insurance affordability.

I'd like to see something done about our piss poor image overseas.

I'd like to see pension reforms so Corporate whack jobs can't run off with a career's worth of savings.

I'd like to see something done about preparing for bird flu (and I don't mean BushCo plans to use it as an opportunity to establish the BushCo dictatorship).

I'd like to see something done about that h*llhole in Iraq.

That's a start. Maybe we should come up with a list of things we'd like changed, and then come up with ideas on how to change them. As an elected official once said to me - it's not his ideas that matter, it's mine. So, by extension, what we should be doing is feeding our ideas to the people who can talk about them and implement them.

18. I think so too
The fundie base doesn't like stem cell research a lot but the majority of the public does. If they make the fundie base mad they won't get a lot of votes. Especially in the south which is where they have a current hold on.

7. Something to seriously consider ...
The gop profits by making the discussion about bullshit irrelevencies. They have always done that. When the DSM was sizzling through the internets, what did they do? Introduce a fucking Flag Burning Amendment.

That's the way they play.

They lie. They tout irrelevencies. They produce red herrings. They finger point. They divide.

That IS their strategy. THAT is what we have to counter.

10. monitoring elections
Getting involved in election oversight would help.

1. Monitoring polling conditions and getting complaints lodged with the GAO and/or FBI fast.
2. Videotaping instances of voter intimidation.
3. Videotaping voting machines "going awry."
4. Conducting independent exit polls, petitioning for intensive UN election monitoring.
5. Investigating conflicts of interest and filing complaints about them.
6. Petitioning heavily to get high-level internal election oversight out of partisan hands.

There are probably more ways to go about it, and I'm not sure how practical all of these things are.

11. Union LOCALS buy RADIO STATIONS like IBEW local, Alaska
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 05:36 PM by oscar111
some electrical union, think it was IBEW, actually did that and put AAR on the air.

this valuable model for expanding AAR ahould be widely discussed.

So what if a station even loses money with AAR? radio pays for itself on election day. And with AAR's general help in expanding unions, and unions help in upping wages, i claim that AAR will pay for itself every payday in your paycheck.

Unions created the middle class. They up wages.

Thread here detailed the ALASKA purchase... use search feature if you have it. Think you might also visually search for it in Media forum here. About six to eight weeks ago. Think it was Anchorage location

Demopedia experts... put this model of AAR getting on the air.. namely union locals buying a station.... into the appropriate pages.. like page "AAR" .. since my cpr cant do the origin of a new page in demopedia. thanks

The Republicans control most of the electronic machines in this country, and that is the ONLY thing we need to expose and correct.

And why would you call Vilsack and Rendell suck ups?

17. the next election is too late
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 05:49 PM by wli
Some kind of campaigning needs to be done to get the information out there. Maybe not enough people have seen the evidence.

I've heard a lot of people say "it was just a slim majority, stop talking about that ``conspiracy theory'' stuff." The problem is that it's not crackpot speculation, there is compelling circumstantial evidence and with the recent Ohio busts, possibly also witnesses, and not enough people have seen it.

The other thing I'm seeing is that despite the vast statistical (circumstantial) evidence and other evidence the integrity of the elections (or lack thereof) was compromised the issue is getting zero MSM coverage. Getting any useful publicity whatsoever is a serious concern.

Once there is broad enough support for strict accountability, paper trails, oversight, and so on, the issue can be pressed.

15. I've been screaming about this since
Kerry's "play chess" policy when he was being absolutely slandered by the swiftboat pigs. I was told by many on this board to be quiet and that we shouldn't sink to their level. I was attacked for not doing anything on my own to help Kerry, although I was a big financial supporter, precinct captain for Kerry and fundraiser at the time. He did not respond, That's the fact. Amd we are not responding now. Dems don't do strategy. They've learned nothing. They aren't interested.

20. In defense of Kerry
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 06:04 PM by FreedomAngel82
I remember shortly after the election reading an article where his ex-wife Julia was interviewed. She said that Kerry wanted to go after the SBVT people but the DNC wouldn't let him go after them and at the convention they didn't let Kerry or anybody attack Bush. Did McAullife have ties to the DLC? I remember reading how Julia said the SBVT people really got to Kerry (it would me too) but he couldn't do anything about it. I don't know why he doesn't go after them now for slander and all that.
