1. One or two, maybe.
Some guy in Arkansas (I think) did on the record, and then said he hopes Karl doesn't get him. Somebody else did off the record, but didn't want to be named because he didn't want to appear "disloyal."

Where the fuck are the supposed moderates on this? Where are the members of the Gang of 14?

Just wait. Everyone is going to be silent. Then, when he's indicted and or resigns, at some point, there will be a huge pile-on.

They'll say they knew it all along...

3. 'Hopes Karl Rove doesn't
get him', that says it all. A man who can do something like that to their own can certainly do what he did to Valerie Plame.

8. "Disloyal," indeed.
Fascinating how these assholes view loyalty to their party more important than loyalty to their country.

5. What a downtrodden and pathetic group of individuals.
On July 4th weekend I watched a fantastic series about the Revolutionary War and our founding fathers. They were truly heroic men and women who were willing to sacrifice their lives, their comfort and their wordly goods to bring us liberty and this country.

And now we see this group of politicians who seem willing to sign away their integrity and our legacy in order to feather their own nests and curry the favor of their political overlords. There really is a point where you have to wake up and face the person in the mirror everyday (assuming you are able to cast that image).

10. Not surprised. The vendetta against Plame and Wilson is typical...
of the unprecedented viciousness with which Bush and his Republicans trash all their critics -- especially those within their own party. Note the example here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=259x558

Which underscores the media's greatest failure of all: the failure to connect the dots (and thereby portray the utter vileness at the core of this administration). The crime of the Plame/Wilson vendetta is not an exception (as even Watergate was during the Nixon years). It is instead business as usual: the real story that, for whatever reason, no reporter dares tell, no editor dares publish.

11. If Rove is indicted for perjury
I certainly hope someone does a montage of the literally hundreds of republican politicians and pundits and Fox News contributors who said "It's not about sex, it's about lying under oath!" complete with the obligatory hand wringing and gnashing of teeth. Bob Barr where are you?

13. this from the supposed "VALUES" party, right?
they had no problem claiming VALUES won the 2004 election for bush.
ETHICS don't seem be included on the list of the republican party's professed values.

15. I found one.
I remember reading about one republican who said rove should resign, but couldn't remember who it was. It turned out to be an Arkansas state rep. All congressional pukes are marching in lock step. For now. It's telling that of all the GOP reps, both state and federal, there is only one on record saying red rover should resign if media reports are true. And now he's in the hot seat in Arkansas for not going with the program.

Holt says 'fired' was wrong word
Saturday, Jul 16, 2005

Arkansas News Bureau

LITTLE ROCK - State Sen. Jim Holt, R-Springdale, said Friday he called for the resignation of White House aide Karl Rove if media reports were true that he leaked information about a CIA operative, but did not suggest that Rove should be fired.

In a Friday story, the Arkansas News Bureau reported on reaction to an Associated Press account that quoted Holt as saying Rove should resign. The lead of the bureau story suggested Holt thought Rove should be fired.

"I never said he should be fired," Holt said Friday in a telephone interview.

On Thursday, Holt, who is running for the GOP nomination for lieutenant governor, tried to distance himself from a national AP story that quoted him as saying Rove should quit as senior adviser to President Bush.

16. I've figured out that
one of the differences between repubs and Dems is: repubs think that having power makes them right and Dems think that being right gives them power. repubs think that they don't have to admit that they or any other repub is wrong because they have the power right now.

17. The Power Party vs. the Truth Party
Truth wins in the long run, just as mathematics rules the universe, but the truth can take a very long time coming out. The Truth party needs to pay a little more attention to power, which it can do without giving up an inch on truth.

18. Plausible Deniablilty
I'm trying to organize all the rhetoric and wild postings I've heard over the past week. It'd be great to archive this stuff...the floor speeches in the House (some of those one minute speeches are real winners) and all the other rhetoric...save it on a safe server and then bring it back about a year from now.

Right now the silence of many is their denunciation. Rove's power is soooo strong, it's not only political, but financial suicide to stick anything out right now. It just shows you how unsafe the moderate wing of the Repugnican party feels it is and how conflicted it is.

Trust me...they won't be given any passes. Anyone tarred by this scandal and eventually this regime will be a badge of shame. The light of truth is starting to break through the clouds.

This time the media is working for us.

Rove is going to come out dirty and it will rub off on anybody associating with him.

23. Sure they have.
Bush** himself did.

Of course, he said that "whoever did this needs to be..." fired, flogged, indicted or whatever. That was before he knew it was Rove.

Cheney must have cringed when he heard Georgie say that, because obviously he, Cheney, knew all along.
