What's happened to America (or sick and tired of being sick and tired)
Just when I feel I have bottomed out on the state of our country, and the yahoos in charge, I get blind-sided and start another downward spiral. I am not sure I'll survive the rest of the Bush term, or even until 2006 midterms.

Two recent things set me off -

I finaly caught Ron Reagan's Coast to Coast, and that Monica Crowley is an Ann Coulter wannabe. They had this guy trying to explain feelings of Mideastern Muslims and all she got out of it was that he was blaming America. The guy stood up well for himself and told her she was misrepresenting the comments he made. But the point is if you can't have a reasoned discussion with a supposed journalist, how do have any hope of convincing Joe Public?

Today, on CSpan's Washington Journal, they had the author of a book on suicide bombers and how they are NOT NECESSARILY Islamic extremists. It is more about Occupation, particularly by the US. In other words, where we butt into other countries with our military.

We (Americans) have allowed Bush and crew to jerk us around with fear andnationalistic pride, and use 9-11 and everything since to their political advantage. Noone in administration is held responsible or accountable, and some how it is all Bill Clinton's fault.

And where are the Democrats? They don't want Dean to talk policy, but do they go after Bush? No, other than Dean, Conyers and a few others, the best speech I have heard about this administration was given by Julian Bond at the NAACP Convention in Milwaukkee last week.

I hear callers into the Washington Journal and can tell who listens to Rush and FOX? How has our country come to this?

3. What Happened? They Fixed the Votes Around their Candidate
Then they fixed the facts around the policy.

6. What You Mean "We"?
Crude and Rude, we are an arrogant Nation

We have a arrogant pResident, whom we did not elect.

Rich and spoiled

In the race to acquire the most toys, the Japanese have got us beat by a mile.
Our health care system is the world's most costly by far, and still
fails to cover a great many of our citizens.
Our public education systems are inferior to those in quite a few other countries,
and many of the religious schools don't even meet that low standard.
Our transit systems vary from barely adequate to nonexistant.
Most people have to drive to get to work, especially in this era
of extreme job instability.
Our country is in debt up to its eyeballs.

We are not as rich as we think we are.

we waste like no other.

We are working on that. I see a lot more new Priuses than new Hummers.
Lots of recycling too. People are attempting to conserve.

The Arrogant/Rich combo is killing us

Our arrogant, rich, misleader is killing us.

.....makes us IGNORANT.

THAT is the job of the media and the rw pseudo-xtian churches.

8. We does not mean ALL of us in this context....it means most of us
or enough of us to let this MOFO into the office. Bush had to have help in getting there to the Oval Office which means millions of peeps walked the streets etc to gewt out the Pub Vote. When that seemed dubious, they found ways to cheat for Bush...anti Bush votes were suppressed in many ways, large and small numbers...apparently, made the diff.

The World has TV and on TV they see us waste our energy like no other Nation. The see NASCAR, Moter baike races, truck races, airplane races.. Sky diving, etc

Bush is not the only rich/arrogant in the Nation...too many Pubs fall into this and it shows...

Rich and spoiled...we want it all...we think money can buy us the answers.

come, we go drink...

for every time I've heard the phrase "What's happened to my country" I'd be able to afford health insurance.

7. The Dems aren't really playing good opposition right now and are
wasting some real opporunities. They need to express outrage and say it loudly and they are just not doing it. Rovegate, Iraq....

9. It's the result of a thirty year long, highly funded effort....
on the part of Conservative forces in this country. They started after
Watergate (which REALLY pissed them off) organizing the Christian
Right, buying up media, installing Right-Wing talk jocks, and honing
their attack skills and operatives (that's you, Karl).

Robert Parry details this in his book "Secrecy and Priviledge: The Rise
of the Bush Dynasty from Watergate to Iraq".
http://www.consortiumnews.com/2004/111304.html

THE GOOD NEWS: In spite of the huge amount of time and money these
people have devoted to taking over our country, it's not working. They
are being brought down (however maddeningly slowly) by their own
corruption and out-of-touch-with-reality mindset. They are trying to force
values on America that the majority of Americans do not share. Ultimately,
that never works. :)

The passivity of the Democrats is my biggest fear. Bushco is bringing itself
down. The Democrats seem mostly dumbfounded.

10. I hear ya, Mandy.
I have wondered if anyone is studying or writing, whatever, about the effect on the national psyche of the tumult that Bushco has visited upon us.

I swear sometimes I think I'm having some sort of post traumatic stress episode of something. I'm just right on the edge all the time. There just doesn't seem to be any relief from this nightmare.

I think in '08 the nation will go for a boring and competent candidate in a big way. Clark, anyone?
