2. RIP Ronnie Williams, and
condolences to all his loved ones. It didn't have to be this way.

Blame it on the blivet and all his conspiring cohorts. May they pay for their war atrocities.

4. The same age as my oldest two
heartbreaking, these kids who die for lies and greed.

His blood is on this administration's hands, because they sent our soldiers to war for their own vile avarice without even providing for them. I hope every employee of Halliburton chokes on their tasty food today. I hope the mouthfuls of cake sit on their tongues and make them gag. I hope they are suffocated by their own evil.

Rest in Peace, Dear Ronnie Williams. Every * voter and supporter caused your death. May each and every one rot in hell.

6. This Ugly War Will Outlive Us
Between all the stop losses and extra tours...along with the high-tech modern ways we've learned to maim and butcher people, we're condemning a generation of young men and women to a life of PTSD and other disabilities...assuming they return home in one physical piece.

A sad story from our recent parade. There's a neighbor who returned last Spring from his second tour to Iraq. The evening he came home, he was at a local band concert and was given a warm welcome. A couple weeks later, some local Repugnican pols came calling...asking if he'd be interesting in helping them...speaking at rotary dinners and being used as their "mascot" (that was the word someone actually used to him). He said he wasn't interested...he wanted to be left alone. Then he asked that the yellow ribbons be removed from the tree in front of his house (put on by the local repugnicans) and this got them all in a snit. He wasn't gonna play with their flag waiving games.

During the 4th of July parade, as usual, the local Repugnicans and their patronage workers (lots of them in this area) were out waiving their flags and attempting to sing the national anthem. Quietly, marching alone in his uniform was the Iraqi vet. His head held high but you could see the cold reaction he was getting from some of the people. I had to go up to him...shake his hand...thank him for his sacrafices and remind him there are some of us who won't forget him now and in the future.

Peace...

8. Next time you see that Iraqi War vet, please shake his hand again for me.
Tell him I said, "Thank you," and may he find peace of mind again.

10. I Sure Will...I Won't Forget Him
Some of this story is recent "poop" I got first hand. I worked with many returning vets and groups during the final years of Vietnam and I'm already assisting financially with various Iraqi groups.

I didn't get into the politics of the invasion with him, just the way things have been since he's come home and you could see the look of sadness. You bet I told him there's a lot of us out here who really feel for his plight and the burdens he now carries forward. We'll do what we can to restore the benefits and bring this insane war to an end. That drew a smile...a genuine one.

Cheers...

7. If you have the chance to offer condolences to his family....
Edited on Mon Jul-18-05 07:46 AM by KzooDem
Not knowing how his family feels about the war, and being careful not to displace their grief with our anit-war/anti-Bush agenda, on our behalf please simply let them know there are an awful lot of people here who are thinking about them and their son, brother, nephew, etc...
