Chevron launches major ad campaign: "Will you join us"
I saw a huge 2 page ad in the LA Times this morning. The CEO is asking people to join in conservation etc. while new energy sources are being researched and developed.
It appears to me it is past the 11th hour, but better late than never.

Yet, Bush Co & GOP policies blindly still pursue global dominance over oil, even through force. Is Chevron distancing itself now from their policies?

Here is a link to their page, where comments can be made, hopefully in a constructive manner.

and in general their press release:

1. Hell yes I will!
And good work for putting the problem out in the open, even if the talks don't necessarily provide soultions!

2. My comments to them (and I gave a rec--others should too)
will Chevron aggressively market and distribute biofuels?

We can make that here at home, and most studies say it would only take about 6% of our cropland.

alcohol gasoline can be run in existing engines with some modification, and biodiesel can be run in diesel engines with NO modification.

It seems to me that the failing American auto companies could become American heroes if they focused their efforts on alternative fuels, not just in the distant future but NOW, as soon as possible. If they knew companies like Chevron would provide the infrastructure that would be a powerful incentive for them to do it.

Also, I urge you not to block research in this area or tax breaks for biofuel comparable to those of petroleum.

If companies like Chevron want to exist after oil becomes prohibitively expensive, they should take the lead in pursuing these other fuels rather than supporting wars to steal other countries oil.

5. why do oil posts get so little attention?
when it has led to the war in Iraq and potential wars in a couple of other countries?

Are even people on a liberal site willfully blind about how big a piece this plays in everything going on?

4. My take on Unocal. They see no future in oil, so they want to sell it.
Would be nice if they invest it into solar or any non-polluting energy source.
