Is it even possible that Libby didn't tell Cheney the plan?
Edited on Mon Jul-18-05 04:28 PM by Stephanie

I don't think he would have dared to do this without telling Dick, do you?

On Capitol Hill, Lewis Libby, chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, has been named as a source for a Time magazine story that identified a CIA officer. (AP Photo/Joe Marquette.FILE)

2. Well, anything is possible
but, it would seem very unlikely that both Bush and Dick didn't know the whole scope a long time ago.

7. Why should the leak have to be Libby's or Rove's idea in the first place?
I can't imagine any staff member doing something this low without permission, but I also can't imagine any of them coming up with the idea and asking their bosses for approval. Libby/Rove/et al may have been the leaks, but it was Bush and Cheney who turned on the faucet.

13. Ummm, Cheney, but I doubt Shrub came up with the idea!
I just don't think he can think that far. I can see him saying "FIX THIS MESS!" and depending on his lynchmen to handle it.

18. No, I believe there was a similar idea expressed in "My Pet Goat."
Seriously, I think you are right; he could never have been that creative and innovative. He might have wanted to get revenge on that "mean ol' bully who won't play nice!" but he would never have come up with anything like what has happened.

Still, he's the pResident, Mr. The-Buck-Stops-Here, no matter what staff, media and kool-aide adicts want to think. I know it's "hard work" and everything, but that's his job. And if they try to play dumb and spare him from any responsibility, then it becomes even more obvious that he is nothing more than a easily-controlled figure-head, and that someone else has been in charge all along. And that is just as damning for the "Goat" scholar as it would be if he were the evil mastermind behind it all mess.

12. Possible, but I don't think it's likely.
I think they might do this without telling Bush, but not without telling Cheney.

the entire outing of Plame and character assassination of Wilson was to cover Cheney's behind on Niger false claims.

21. Libby Not Tell Cheney? Libby is a founder of PNAC and a
former employee of The Rand Corporation -- as well as being a Yale grad (wonder if he's another S&B guy?).

He has worked in the Reagan, Bush I and Bush II administrations. This guy is no kid - he's a major player in the BFEE and, of course Cheney knew everything he was doing. Cheney is the Master of Evil.
