Rove & Bush have had 2 years to prepare for Fitzgerald wrapping up
Why do they seem to be foundering so badly this past week? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see them off balance and on the defensive for once... but, they have known that Fitzgerald would be wrapping up his investigation and they seem so unprepared & caught off guard?

Am I missing something, or are they just so arrogant or so incompetent that they didn't prepare?

1. I think Fitz has been building a rock solid case bigger than the
leak, in isolation, and the bush cabal has only recently realized that they are in deep trouble in a major way hence the frantic and failing attempts to distort, lie, and distract.

6. you'd think they'd prepare though?
Isn't it wise to prepare for the worst?

7. In their arrogance, they didn't feel the need to prepare because,
up until now, they have gotten away with everything and assumed this would be no different, imo. Lies had always worked previously so they had the beginning lies all set, assuming, wrongly, that it would go no further.

2. Someone must have talked that they never expected would talk
Novak? Someone else inside the White House who's blowing the whistle on Rove?

3. What could they have done? They tried to stymie the investigation
and Asscrack was forced to appoint someone who didn't answer directly to him. What could they do after that point?

Rove just hopes for the best and takes advantage of the GJ secrecy and huge delays. He gets the important thing, reelection, and the rest is just something that happens.

4. I don't think they ever expected Fitz to go after the journalists
and that Cooper would ever talk.

Bush fell off his bike on the day Cooper agreed to talk.

5. "Asscrack was forced to appoint someone"
No. Asscrack was not the one that appointed Fitz. I forgot the person's name but it was posted on DU before.

This case is directly linked to DSM which is why the RW Machine is in full frontal Assult and no RWingers are jumping ship on this issue. This case could topple the Bush Regime and casue major losses for them in '06.
