Infuriating sighting along US-178 between Pickens, SC, and Rosman, NC.
Just south of Bob's Place (The Road-Kill-Grill), I sighted a guy on one of those 4-wheel ATVs that hunters so love in this neck-of-the-woods. He was driving around a big, worn yard with several dogs following him. Behind the ATV is a small dog (mixed beagle?) on a 30-foot chain being jerked and dragged by the asshole on the ATV. My blood pressure probably hit 210/130. I was getting ready to stop when I spotted a shotgun on the rear gun rack of the ATV. I tried for several miles (to no avail) to get a cell phone signal to call 911 and get the Pickens County sheriff's department on this animal cruelty case. Tomorrow I will alert them and WYFF-4 TV in Greenville of this sighting. Maybe they can catch this sadistic bastard in the act.

3. I don't think he would understand our concept of "talk."
I am generally anti-violence, but this asshole needs an ass-whipping by his peers. I am sure that there are some good-old-boys in Pickens County, SC, who (in spite of their machismo and confederate flags) do not cotton to animal cruelty. Maybe they could "talk" to him. I'll also call my dear liberal friend Wanda (who knows everybody in Pickens County) for advice as to whom to call.

2. I'm originally from SC. In my mother's home town...,
just 50 miles from the state capitol, there was a sheriff a few years ago that was going around and shooting people's dogs, just for the hell of it.

There are some truly sick f*ckers out there.

4. My Christian Fundy friend will kill any Cat that comes into his yard!
Damn Freak...one of his flaws...

Recently he was complaining about all the moles digging up his garden...

I told him it was because he had killed all the cats that god had sent him to control the rodents in his yard...believe it or not - I think that did the trick...(I know how he thinks...)

The cats will live from now on...

6. I seem to recall a gas station/ breakfast place at 178 and SC 11
Some of the good ol' boys in there might want to hear about this.

8. Yep. SE corner US-178/SC-11. Gas & Gifts. B-fast is Twinkies & coffee.
Big biker place on the nice weekends (then they race up 178 to Rosman). Good idea. Those bikers (Harleys and exotic Europeans) include doctors, lawyers, and merchant chiefs (along with liberals, PETA people, GreenPeace people, Rupubs, and the like). Excellent idea. Mr. Drag-The-Dog is on the right about 1 mile up US-178 from that intersection, at about the point the speed limit drops from 50 to 40 (and just before the first mountain curve to the right .. but not the left hair-pin closer to Bob's).

BTW: My condo neighbor dog-lover in Greenville, who is now racing with Lance in France, often trains on that stretch from G-ville to Rosman (George Hincappe). So does a good liberal cardiologist friend (dog-lover) in our condo. Either would be appalled by what I witnessed.

9. Back in the day, they used to cook there
When I was doing the hiking book, I ate there at least once. Though a Southerner born and bred, I'm not one that likes sawmill gravy on anything, so it's kind of engraved on my memory. (Everything else was good, though.)

Hincapie lives in Greenville? I had no idea. I guess nobody told The State; he'd be on the front page every day.:D

10. YOU-HAVE-GOT-TO-BE-KIDDING-ME!
Hincappe is Greenville news every day this time of year. Big news on the European outlets too. He is usually #2 to Lance, so he is a touted replacement to the USA team when Lance retires.
Hincappe lives directly above me on Main Street in downtown Greenville. His unit is very avant guard. I put my unit on the market 25 days ago and got a contract Friday (I'm selling because of the issue with the dogs .. need a back yard and a doggie door). Hincappe put his unit on the market last week. He has built a house for his beautiful French wife and their new baby ("Paris") and the babies to come.

Perhaps the news in Columbia, SC, is even busier kissing David Wilkins ass than the sycophantic Greenville news outlets are. I'm surprised WYFF-TV had any time to cover Tour de France, given their every night feature coverage of the new Ambassador Wilkins' cocktail party somewhere in that country he know nothing about: CANADA!

:puke:
