My LTTE response to Govindini Murty on liberal Hollywood to be published
Just got notice today from the Hartford Courant that my LTTE response to Govindini Murty's op-ed on liberal Hollywood is going to be published on Saturday, the day they reserve for longer LTTEs. I'll see if I can dig up her original op-ed, but it was last week.

Here is the end of it:

So, Ms. Murphy, I would advise you to come up with another script and try, try again. After all, it took over a decade for Peter Jackson to bring Lord of the Rings to the screen, why should she give up after trying only one script? Why not blame herself for her script just not being good enough instead of the usual right wing finger pointing?

I basically say that the reason box office receipts being down this year is a lack of depth at the movies - the blockbusters are still huge, but the big family pic of Madagascar didn't do as well as last year's big family pic of the Incredibles and the date movies this summer seem to be lacking so far.

1. Faux was spouting something about "liberal hollywood" last night
I wasn't paying attention.

Congrats, the Courant is a good paper, once home to Samuel Clemments, I believe.

2. They've endorsed Republicans dating back to Lincoln, though
Their editorial board is center-right I'd say and they traditionally endorse Republicans, especially in national races. It actually made national headlines when they endorsed Bill Clinton once. In local races, it's a mixed bag, but they tend to stay with the status quo as they've endorsed liberals like John Larson & Rosa DeLauro for Congress.
