Suspending a clearance during an investigation is normal

Last Thursday, September 21st, the Department suspended the security clearance of Martin Indyk, United States Ambassador to Israel, pending the outcome of an investigation of suspected violations of Department of State security standards. Under the regulations, the Department of State is obligated to suspend Ambassador Indyk's security clearance.

At least three former CIA officials told UPI that in 1998 Rhode had his clearances suspended, based on allegations he had given classified information to Israel.

In August 2001, Hatfill lost his security clearance after a CIA-administered polygraph test yielded inconclusive results. Sources familiar with Hatfill's SAIC work record said that CIA polygraph examiners tested him as part of his application for top-secret clearance. They reported inconclusive results to questions about his years and relationships in Rhodesia and South Africa, and as a result, his regular security clearance was suspended.

Mark Mallah says he was suspended and put under 24-hour surveillance after failing a routine polygraph test in 1994, when he was an FBI counterintelligence agent. He was finally cleared and reinstated 19 months later.

In November, 1988, the Navy began a security investigation on Becerra based on confidential information that Becerra claims the Navy knew or should have known was false. Becerra's security clearance was suspended on January 5, 1989. He was placed on administrative leave pending further investigation.

Seems like Bush would find that important enough to do. ASK Rove what he did and HAVE him do a polygraph test that would then be released to the public.
