1. I agree
though my family will be affected I'm sure (ADA). The only thing that is going to turn the tide for this country is the scandal.

2. Bush has the majority in Congress.
He will appoint whoever he wants to the SCOTUS and we can't do anything about it. We can, however, do something about Plame and DSM. We can keep them in the public eye and focus public attention on them. That is what we should do.

3. Yes. Let's rid ourselves of these assholes.
But fight Jones too. Let's show them that we can walk and chew gum.

Like Randi said, it's going to be five weeks before congress even gets together to consider the nomination. Nothing can happen in the meantime.

This is a distraction from the DSM and Rove's treason.

8. When the indictments are served, there will be anger.
And there will be anger when Bush nominates an anti-choice nut-job to the Supreme Court.

Anger on 2 fronts.

9. I agree
He will go with the most rad nominee he can get.
Because he needs an enemy, someone he can destroy.
The Senate dems get the nod.

However, it could backfire. We can only hope.

And give it as much help as we can.

11. Agreed!
This Supreme Court announcement is just another DIVERSION from Rovegate-I mean-TRAITORGATE. They couldn't use the space shuttle to divert us (probably to the relief of the astronauts, and we ALL know what I'm intimating)...London has not only bounced back from the subway bombing, but Scotland Yard has ALREADY made some busts (unlike US), so that's no good for 'em... Tragically, Natalee Holloway has been reduced to now just trying to find the body, so that's a no-go...and did anyone notice that the White House really couldn't find ANYTHING to put on the news Friday to draw attention away from Rove over the weekend?

12. Five weeks vacation for Congress.
How sweet it is. These folk get to decide their vacation time and raises. Not too many jobs have these perks.

There are big stakes here. Karl Rove will be out of the White House no later than 2009, probably doing "analysis" for Fox News or something like that afterward.

But the next USSC justice could be in office for the next 30 years. He or she will be in a position of great power to arbitrate the major cultural wars going on in America. The new justice could hold a swing vote on matters pertaining to affirmative action, abortion, gay marriages, drug policy, rights of the accused, the USA Patriot Act and who knows what else.

And once that man or woman puts on that black robe, he/she cannot be fired and is basically acountable to no one for his/her decisions.

So ignoring the announcement is something I cannot do. I am confident that we can keep other stories in the news as well.

16. Congress has a nice vacation for five whole weeks.
There won't be any hearings about this until then anyway. Why waste time and effort on this now?

17. Tie Plame to nominee
It is quite likely that one or more lawsuits resulting from Plame will end up before SCOTUS eventually. How will Justice Chimpbot (whoever it may be) rule on them?

18. I agree... the Plame case and DSM must not die
Today, I was flipping the channels around 4 pm, and on Court TV they had some old guy say that the Plame case and DSM were the reason he thinks the asshole is announcing the Supreme Court nominee, because they are hurting him right now. :tinfoilhat:
