Discussing Sen. Richard J. Durbin's (D-IL) recent controversial remarks and Newsweek's retraction of a story about the abuse of Qurans by U.S. military personnel, Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) television host Hal Lindsey called liberals "some of our worst enemies." On the July 12 episode of his International Intelligence Briefing on TBN, Lindsey declared:

In a curious way, guys like Durbin and the anti-Americans at Newsweek have done us a favor. They've left little doubt that the leftist agenda is not just real, it is downright dangerous. It was somewhat of a wakeup call to the rest of us that some of our worst enemies are to be found among our own people.

11. I have read excerpts of Lindsay's books. Read one for a good laugh

Takes Revelation and makes out battle maps showing where the USSR would invade Israel. Pure nutty crap like that. Also was obsessed with Ronald Reagan being the saviour of the free world. He put some pretty scary quotes in his books about Reagan and the nutty things he said. Seems a lot of Reagan's foreign policy was based on interpretations of Revelation.

I was caught up in The Late Great Planet Earth crapola in the 70s (I was in high school, in my own defense). Without going back to his only claim to fame, as I recall he compared the plague of locusts/scorpions in Revelation to the military attack helicopters the US used in Vietnam. For real.
