Are we being played by Bush/Rove on Roberts?
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 09:23 PM by jim3775
How do we know that he "isn't so bad" or "it could be worse"? Why are we listening to the corporate media tell us that he is just a standard mainstream conservative and "not an ideologue"? I'm just thinking out loud here but something is making me think that he is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Don't underestimate the enemy.

BTW, this does not mean that we should forget rove. We need to keep hammering and hammering but I don’t want to pass off roberts to only focus on rove. It doesn’t matter what we or the media or any senator says regarding the grand jury, it's up to the jurors to hand down indictments. But it does matter what the media, activist groups, members of congress and senators say and do about the supreme court.

Edit:spelling

1. We are being played - a game of chicken. They put up someone
who is bad, but not totally abhorant. They are betting that we want the media on Rove so much that we will let this one slide. The best scenario -- all dems stick together and simply vote no. Unfortunately, that won't happen. Landreu, Nelson (NE), Pryor (AR), and a couple more will screw it up and vote yes to confirm.

4. How is someone who could serve 30+ years on the SCOTUS a distraction? n/t
Making the anouncement now is a distraction I agree on that, but rubber stamping roberts seems like the wrong thing to do.

2. No, we are not being played by *bush.....
This is a calculated and deliberate intent to control the world by the corporate elite. Demaning women is the message here today.....They have diminished other social groups in the past....such as the poor and elderly. Today, the target is women.

5. Yes
more spin on partisan politic

However is all Democrats refuse to vote and just abstain
Then it is up to the Republican party to fight this
Let them eat themself

Ask question during confirmation hearing
Just abstain from voting after that

Sometime you need to lose if you cant win
And not fighting maybe the winning solution.
