6. He was the perfect choice for what Bush needed.
Someone that would keep the base of the Republicans happy AND not stir up too much turbulence in the Senate. He choice an "insider," someone the Senate Democrats have played a few rounds of golf with but still with very strong conservative credentials.

John Roberts is super conservative republican man! Coming to our rescue

Taking away women's rights little by little...

From what I gather he is not as extreme as Scalia or Thomas but still to the right of O'Connor.
