1. I thought the little kids were strange for a 50 year old man
He's Catholic? I guess the rhythm method worked really good for him.

11. You might be surprised. There are

Catholics who have found Natural Family Planning (NFP) works very well, who've been able to have the number of children they want and no more, through knowledge of the woman's fertile days, and avoidance of intercourse on those days.

NFP requires some training in how to properly measure body temperature and chart daily temperatures over several menstrual cycles to determine when a woman ovulates. Similar or identical methods are prescribed by infertility specialists for couples trying to conceive, though they are supposed to have intercourse often during the woman's fertile period rather than avoid it.

(Avoiding intercourse for a few days doesn't mean avoiding sexual pleasure entirely, either. I read one book by a Catholic bishop that specifically suggested couples have oral sex during those periods of abstinence from intercourse. Husbands and wives are expected to have sex throughout their marriage, not just when the wife is capable of bearing children.)

More to the point, is the man even Catholic?

28. "Strange for a 50 year old man"?? Lots of men that age have young....
...children these days.

I'm 54, my daughter from my first marriage is 20 and starting her 3rd year in college in the Fall.

My son by my second marriage is 7 years old, and my daughter by my second marriage is 5 years old. They will be attending the same public school in the Fall, and I will be the one dropping them off in the morning while my wife picks them up in the afternoon.

I enjoy my daily interaction with my kids very much, and wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

And no, I'm not Catholic, and no, I'm not a Republican, and no, I'm very far politically from being a rightwinger.

I can't imagine that any conservative would ever do that.

4. Maybe he did the "ring thing" and was celibate until he was 45
:)

or his first wife was "barren"....It's unlikely that a young catholic college grad/lawyer would remain single until his 40's..or did he just have "friends"??

9. In 1996, he wanted Rehnquist to boot up"
Supporters of the indecency statute are outraged. ``The judges were overwhelmed by the technology,'' says Bruce A. Taylor, president of the National Law Center for Children & Families, which champions the prosecution of obscenity. Taylor thinks the Supreme Court will overturn the Philadelphia decision and that courts should define online indecency rather than ban all attempts to regulate online speech.

The Justice Dept. must decide whether to appeal by July 2. Constitutional experts say this High Court may view the Netizens' case favorably. In its past decisions, ``the First Amendment has always prevailed,'' says Washington lawyer John G. Roberts. But like the Philadelphia judges, the justices are unschooled in the cyberphenomenon. If Net advocates hope to get an ultimate win, they may want to help Justice Rehnquist & Co. start booting up.

10. "Roberts entered private practice in 1986 ...
...as an associate at the Washington, D.C.-based Hogan & Hartson law firm, but left to serve under George H. W. Bush in the Department of Justice from 1989 to 1993 as Deputy Solicitor General. In this capacity, he argued 39 cases before the Supreme Court, winning 25."

Here's a DUH-bya connection:

Roberts also issued a dissent in a decision against the Bush administration's efforts to keep secret records of Vice President Dick Cheney's energy task force. Roberts was in the minority when the court voted 5-3 to deny the Bush administration's request for a rehearing.

I thought the same thing- does anyone really dress little boys like that anymore - in shorts with a jacket and saddle shoes? They look like they're ready for the Easter Parade is right! I wouldn't expect jeans and flip flops- but that picture is really really odd- look at that downcast look on his wife's face. I think we're going back in time folks.
