I'm confused and have a question

I keep reading about the 2006 elections. In some of the posts I have been reading these elections are referred to as "only a few months away". Or that indictments might be handed down, "right before the 2006 elections this October.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I thought the 2006 elections are to be in November, 2006.

Can someone clarify?

there will not be enough time to run a campaign for the election next year. So the window for picking candidates is going to close soon.

the candidates will have to start spending much of their time raising cash, obtaining staff, raising cash, developing strategy, raising cash, collecting political backers, raising cash, etc. Arranging all the stuff that goes into a campaign.

part of the elections process, then, in the day of the semi-permanent media campaign, I guess we're effectively in the zone of the 2006 elections.

Change the calendar and skip right over years that are giving them trouble. Rove is a scandal in 2005? Poof! It's 2006 already! What? You say you don't remember what happened with the Rove thing? Sorry bout that, it's old news now. Guess you should try paying attention next time.

There are some elections this year, but only a handful in a couple of states. The big bi-annual election is next year.

10. The groundwork for 2006 is already being laid

It will be harder for Republicans to raise cash with stench in the air and if Dems can be perceived as winners they will have an easier time because everyone loves a winner.
