A smart strategy would be as follows:
1)Work to turn media attention back on the investigation.
2)Convince our leaders to make the case to the public that the nominee confirmation should wait until we hear from the prosecutor's office.
3)In the meantime, contribute to organizations such as People for The American Way so they can get the truth out about the nominee such as TV ads.

Anyone agree?

1. Yes
This sounds quite sensible.

3. I don't
The Rovegate investigation should not stop the congress from doing it's job especialy considering that congress is not doing the investigating. Just think of the obvious question "What does Karl Rove's alleged crimes have to do with the Suprmeme Court"?

A better thing is do is paint Roberts as the fascist repuke shill that he is.

4. Who's advocating not opposing
the nominee? We don't have the media in our pocket. Play smart or lose again.

5. "Let's not confirm a court appointee
until we hear if whether or not the President's advisor is a criminal or not". Think about that, it makes no sense.

6. Delaying the nomination process
prevents it from taking the public focus off the investigation, allows us time to better lay out opposition to the candidate and helps prevent a double cross fron the DLC.

7. Frankly it doesn't matter if the media is paying attention now
Fitzgerald is doing his job. When the axe comes down no one will be able to ignore it.

Saying "We want to delay this so an embarresing scandal stays on the front page" is not really defensable from a non-partisan stand point. It would backfire on us.

8. He's doing his job,
but waiting for who knows how long and being out of the public consciousness won't help in limiting further damage in the meantime.
