Overturning Roe v. Wade would do nothing
Edited on Wed Jul-20-05 10:39 AM by Horse with no Name
good for the Republicans. The reason that many of these people that continue to vote Republican against their interests is because generally it DOESN'T affect them. Welfare cuts? Doesn't affect them. Gay rights? It doesn't affect them. In instances such as those, these hypocrites can afford to play the moral piety card. HOWEVER, abortion affects more of their base than any of them would ever admit to.
One of the kids that my daughter goes to school with got pregnant last year. Typical Republican hypocrite. They hauled the kid off for an abortion--then said she had a bad case of the flu and lost the weight she had gained--only in her stomach. Yet these people who preach all that is Godly and all that is good--and looks down their nose at immmoral bastage liberals--such as myself, vote Republican because they only know how to talk the talk like most other Republicans.
They will NOT walk the walk.
These people talked horribly about my daughter and my family because she got pregnant while in High School. They talked about her like she was scum of the earth. However, my grandchild is now 2 years old and her Mother is a sophomore in college.
I wouldn't ever push my personal views and choices on anyone, yet when it came down to it--the immoral bastage liberal's kept their child the entire time supporting the rights of the Godly Republican's to abort their child.
Now tell me again? How exactly are Democrats Pro-Abortion? and how are Republicans Pro-Life?
It is ONLY about Pro-Choice. If they ever try to change that, you will see the hypocrites change parties so fast their heads would spin. My guess is that more underage daughters of Republicans have abortions than daughters of liberals and I think it has to do with open-mindedness. It is ALL ABOUT appearances, and don't forget it.

1. Rich Repubs Don't Care About Roe
Because even if many states outlaw it, they will still be able to get abortions for their daughters, wives, etc.

It is only the poor who will be stuck with dangerous illegal methods or raising a child they can't afford (especially with social service cuts)

4. Exactly right
Won't it go back to the states to decide?

I'd guess many states will automatically legalize abortion, and others will outlaw it. Abortiosn will now include a bus or a plain ticket - so poor peopel will have less access.

the poor and middle class insisting on enacting laws against their own self interest and the rich being able to escape the fallout and acquiesing in exchange for tax cuts.

7. They won't do it
Some hardcore group might try, but think about it - why would the Republicans give up their best single issue, responsible for who knows how much grassroots support and fundraising?

11. I wonder.
If the votes to overturn it are there on the Supreme Court, will strategy even enter into it? Won't somebody in the religious right who honestly believes it is murder push the issue? And won't the court rule the way they want to? I don't know that the RNC or Rove or anyone like him will be able to prevent it.

8. i have a 16 yr old niece, a repug father two repug brothers and
a repug husband all immediately said abortion. my mouthed dropped, i was saying wtf........

maybe we see this as something that needs to come forefront, for reality to smack people in the face. as long as r vs w is intact and safe, it is not a reality for people.

you can damn well bet i am going to be saying to repugs, you afraid yet
what is solution with all these unwanted children.
what are we going to do for those making minimum wage and cant feed kids
i am not going to be an animal, and demand these babies come on this earth only to be hungry

now, what is the answer

repugs are going to bulk. those yuppy women wanting bush for whatever stupid reason are going to open their eyes. they are talking about taking my rights. my pill. my body. maybe this has to get near to reality to create a new fear, for women. this doesnt stop at abortion. it is fda white male suppressing women. catholics demanding i live by their rule.

9. which is why it is my belief that we should force the abortion issue
and make them spell out exactly how they will enforce it and what the penalties are.

I would absolutely ask that they include safeguards against rich people going to another state, which would lead to practices like auditing doctors offices, ankle bracelets on pregnant women. What's the penalty for a women who just mentions abortion, and what penalty for a Doctor that answers that question. What degree of murder charge do you bring against a women who has tried to get an abortion, but failed, and where will they house her until she has her baby. Force these people to spell it out, and then give the American people the truth about what the vision is.

The religious right uses shock tactics like this all the time, with the pictures of fetuses.

10. Exactly!
Stop with the threats already. We want to hear about the consequences. Spell it out for us. Push the republicans to tell us exactly what "the plan" is. You are pretty close to being brilliant :yourock:
