We deserve to know the source of the rumors re: Clement
I called the White House, both my Senators (Cantwell and Murray), Senator Reid's office, and Senator Leahy's office. I told them that as a citizen in a country with an open government, I have the right to know who floated those rumors.

I would encourage you all to do the same. We know that this is a typical bait and switch.

2. Call, call your senators and complain

if they hear it enough, they'll act on it (maybe.)

I told Cantwell's office flat out that I don't trust her to vote the right way and to fight things.

3. good idea - it didn't occur to me to call them on this, but of course
we should jump on each and every instance of this stupid crap. It's embarrassing at this point.

5. Yesterday morning an "anonymous" source
who must have been somewhat credible called around (I presume to some Senators and some media outlets) and reported that Bush's likely choice for a Supreme Court nominee was Edith Clement. I heard it myself on NPR. All day, she was floated as the probable nominee, till late in the day. Of course they pulled a bait and switch and of course it was going to be someone else, but I'm tired of being treated as if I'm buying a used car from these people.

6. Yeah, that was stupid of them
I mean, it's not like anyone could have done anything about the choice of nominee between dawn and dusk, so what was the point of lying, other than for lying's sake?

Oh, wait--I just answered my own question.

This idiot administration is so accustomed to deceit that its members lie reflexively, even when there's no point in it.

7. Oh, I know what you mean- I felt like we were being set-up-.
purposely mislead to build up the story and the announcement by Bush. Maybe this explains the constant smirk on Bush's face the whole time he was making his announcement. Your right, I don't like being treated like this either. I am definitely going to do some contacting. Thanks!
