2. She plays devil's advocate sometimes with Al
but I think she is definitely a liberal.

Sometimes she brings up a rightwing point so that Al can refute it for the listeners.

3. She's playing devils advocate.
Interjecting some perspective for discussion (and to get Al riled up) that's all.

7. is it really necessary to do that to 'rile' Al up, seems to me the story
is pretty riling all on it's own.

5. I noticed something odd too today.
Usually she does play devil's advocate and does a good job with keeping Al within the scope of good broadcasting.

But today she seemed much too unconcerned to me about Roberts. It bothered me.

6. She is nauseating today. Just switched over to Thom Hartman, like I
usually do at this time. I wish I'd switched sooner today. Lanpher was such a Rove apologist today she made me sick.

She needs to go. Al would be much better with Joe Conason as his co-host.

9. Or how about just Joe?
That would make me so happy. A serious morning show with Joe doing interviews and news and commentary.

8. Cathy's just playing her role, however,
what's really struck me about today's Al Franken is that while on the one hand, Al sounds really angry and militant about Rovegate today, on the other hand, he also said that Roberts is getting through, there is no way he can count as "extraordinary circumstances", we have to go through the hearings, but its a done deal.

It almost sounded as if Al is a "distractster" on the Roberts nomination -- sees it as a side issue.

unlike others.

11. Catherine is a career journalist.
She worked for a few newspapers and had her own talk show on Minnesota Public Radio. She is a professional who asks devil's advocate questions due to her training. FWIW.
