Man Kills Waitress Over Letter to Editor in Local Paper
NEW YORK A resident of Hominy, Okla., walked into a local diner Tuesday afternoon and allegedly shot a pregnant waitress, 26-year-old Becky Clements, in the head, then shot her again in the stomach and chest. Sheriff Ty Koch said the motive is apparently a recent letter to the editor of the Hominy newspaper, the News Progress, written by the woman.

Osage County authorities say they'll ask for two first-degree murder charges against 63-year-old Roy Westbrook, who was recently honored by the newspaper as Hominy's 2004 Citizen of the year. The newspaper is a weekly with a circulation of about 1,500.

Clemens was 11 weeks pregnant.

The letter from the dead woman had said local vandalism is done by prominent citizens and referred to spray-painted graffiti on a rental home owned by Westbrook, although it did not name him. The letter did say the spray-painting was done by the owner.

6. what an odd story
:wtf: is this really about? the murdered woman was the sister of a woman renting the murderer's house, and she claimed he vandalized it...in order to evict her, i think.
but to shoot a pregnant woman to death for a letter...at her place of work...in front of witnesses?!?! there's got to be more to this story.

11. Wrong on so many levels
Where to start...This is so horrible.
Perhaps freedom of speech...but I am gonna bypass that one for now.
11 weeks pregnant and they are going to charge him with 2 counts of murder?
This is a slippery slope again--one of many which we seem to find ourselves on increasingly more and more.
This is an abortion rights issue.
If they can charge him with murder of an 11 week old fetus, that is still first trimester my friends--and first trimester is a legal abortion anywhere.
However, they are attempting to give the 11 week old fetus rights when it wouldn't be a viable human if it were born.
Scary shit.

:eyes: It's all about the "ownership class" folks. The "working class" is for target practice.

The home was being rented to Clements' sister and Westbrook was trying to evict her.
