Under fire over the London bombings, Tony Blair again insisted on Tuesday that the attacks had nothing to do with the war in Iraq - while President Bush said the situation In Iraq is improving.

But new evidence seen by Channel 4 News suggests Sunni insurgents are achieving ever greater success there - with swathes of the country now effectively under their control.

The Iraqi police and army are largely powerless - creating a growing sense of anarchy and chaos. New figures out on Tuesday suggested 25,000 Iraqi civilians have died since the invasion - and the numbers dying at the hands of insurgents and criminals is growing fast.

Channel 4 News' international editor Lindsey Hilsum reports.

Notice they use the word Invasion. Our media calls it the "freeing of the Iraqi people." Other countries report it as a slaughter and occupation.

Notice how oil company profits have skyrocketed since the propaganda-based invasion of Iraq began? BushCo and the Oily Ones are setting profit records.

Notice also what you are paying at the pump. Get the connection? BushCo and Oil Republicans total control and lies equal a screw job at the pump for average Americans, and nearly 1800 of our sons and daughters given up for dead, many thousands wounded gravely to bear hobbling wounds their whole lives. All for the sake of Bush and BushCo lies.
