WASHINGTON: President George Bush on Wednesday said this week the House of Representatives will vote on legislation to renew the Patriot Act, and added the war on terror "is going to be a long war."

The Patriot Act has accomplished "exactly what it was designed to do," The US president said this in his address at the Port of Baltimore, in Maryland. He said, "the problem is, at the end of this year 16 critical provisions of the Patriot Act are scheduled to expire. All 16 provisions are practical, effective and constitutional, and they are vital to defending our freedom."

He said, "as we saw in London, the terrorists are still active and they are still plotting to take innocent life." "So my message to the Congress is clear: This is no time to let our guard down, and no time to roll back good laws. The Patriot Act is expected to expire, but the terrorist threats will not expire."

He said "I expect, and the American people expect, the US Congress and the Senate to renew the Patriot Act, without weakening our ability to fight terror, and they need to get that bill to my desk soon." "The war on terror is going to be a long war. But freedom is going to prevail... history has always brought us challenges and problems. We’ve always handled them; we’ll handle this one, too."

1. Just to make it a little clearer:
To make it clearer: The War on Terror will go on just as Halliburton says they need to line their pockets. Gotta help them "small businesses" now, huh?

So the terror attacks are proof that the "War on Terror" is WORKING? WTF? I thought you specifically said we are fighting a "War on Terror" so we fight "them" over there and not on our shores?

Ahhh, what a freaking miserable failure! How many more kids will he murder today in his fake war??

2. This country
wasn't perfect, by any means, before Bush/Cheney. But it certainly has gotten a heck of a lot worse since they forced their way into office. I so hope that the Plame Scandal can force enough of them out of office that they lose power for whatever amount of time they have left in office. It is fair to say that they rank as the greatest threat to peace in the world today.

3. Like the war in drugs, this so called war on terrorism will never end
because it was designed to make money for certain entities.

The people talk about war as if this were truly a battle against another nation that wants to do us harm but it is in reality a means to transfer wealth from the middle class to the wealthy ruling class by means of government spending and what they don't take from us now, the borrow so we keep giving on into the future. They get their billions now we get screwed now and forever.

Why the hell can't people see that?
