Is anyone concerned about the threat of an "American Hiroshima" in August?
According to Steve Quayle, an expert on terrorism and nuclear weaponry, Osama bin Laden is planning what he calls an "American Hiroshima". According to Quayle, who appeared on coasttocoast last night, August 6th, the 60th anniversary of our attack on Hiroshima, could very well be the date for such an attack.

http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=45313

Al-Qaida's U.S. nuclear targets
Captured documents, terrorists reveal bin Laden's preferred dates, places for 'American Hiroshima'

Al-Qaida's prime targets for launching nuclear terrorist attacks are the nine U.S. cities with the highest Jewish populations, according to captured leaders and documents.

As first revealed last week in Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin, the premium, online intelligence newsletter published by the founder of WND, Osama bin Laden is planning what he calls an "American Hiroshima," the ultimate terrorist attack on U.S. cities, using nuclear weapons already smuggled into the country across the Mexican border along with thousands of sleeper agents.

The series of attacks is designed to kill 4 million, destroy the economy and fundamentally alter the course of history...

The cities chosen as optimal targets are New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Boston and Washington, D.C. New York and Washington top the preferred target list for al-Qaida leadership.

Bin Laden's goal, according to G2 Bulletin sources, is to launch one initial attack, followed by a second on another city to simulate the U.S. bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The optimal dates for the attacks are Aug. 6, the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing, Sept. 11 and May 14, the anniversary of the re-creation of the state of Israel in 1948. No specific year has been suggested, however, this Aug. 6 represents the 60th anniversary of the Hiroshima attack.

http://www.homelandsecurityus.com/AmericanHiroshima.asp

by Sean Osborne, Military Affairs & Senior Analyst

So how about an American Hiroshima which is a repeat, an eye for an eye of the events of exactly sixty years ago this August 6th and 9th? Is it plausible? I believe so. I believe it is consistent with the Department of Homeland Security Informational Bulletin released on June 28, 2005 warning to law enforcement and all concerned parties, first responders, et al., for the month of July 2005. I would extend that warning to cover the anniversaries of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki attacks of August 6/9, 1945. I also think there is no small coincidence with all the recent chatter of talk concerning this topic in the recent past, or the exceptional reaction in Washington DC to an errant, lone Cessna 152 which was three minutes from the White House when intercepted. Nuclear weapons are like hand grenades: "close enough" gets you that celebratory cigar.

http://www.coasttocoastam.com/shows/2005/07/20.html

"Quayle said that there could be as many as 4-5 dozen terrorist nuclear weapons within the U.S., and he warned that the anniversary date of the bombing on Hiroshima, August 6th, might be a time of an attack, since bin Laden has referred to "an American Hiroshima." According to Quayle's sources, the cities of Atlanta, Beaumont, TX; Boston, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Seattle, and Washington have been possibly targeted by al-Qaeda nuclear weapons."

What's kind of scary is the fact that on both 9/11 and 7/7 there were matching military attack "simulations" going on in New York and London, respectively. Last night, Steve Quayle announced that there will be a nuclear warhead "exercise" called "Sudden Response 05" at Virginia's Fort Monroe in August!

http://www.libertyforum.org/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=news_government&Number=293794349#Post293794349

FORT MONROE, Va. -- Here’s the scenario…A seafaring vessel transporting a 10-kiloton nuclear warhead makes its way into a port off the coast of Charleston, S.C. Terrorists aboard the ship attempt to smuggle the warhead off the ship to detonate it. Is this really a possibility?

Joint Task Force Civil Support (JTF-CS) here is planning its next exercise on the premise that this crisis is indeed plausible.

Sudden Response 05 will take place this August on Fort Monroe and will be carried out as an internal command post exercise. The exercise is intended to train the JTF-CS staff to plan and execute Consequence Management operations in support of Federal Emergency Management Agency Region IV’s response to a nuclear detonation.

1. ??? bin Laden is starting to sound a lot like Superman. How would he go
about organizing this? Would he really want to do something this nuts? I mean, there would be no end to the ramifications of what we would do if this happened.

Where's this guy getting his info? Dick Cheney or KKKarl Rove?

6. pretty easliy....
I am sure that (if he even exists as portrayed) he had all of those weapons into the US well before 2001... So, answering your questions in order...

He probably organized iot long ago and has gone about it slowly and deliberately; regardless of whether he is a CIA agent or his own operator, he would be crazy enought to do this - would satisfy either fundamentalist master; "no end of ramifications" is want he would want, irrespective of his employer...

20. It Would Start FULL-BLOWN Armageddon
The american people's blood lust for revenge would know NO BOUNDS! The retaliatory nuking would be beyond our scope! And, the rest of the world would see retaliation as justified.

I just don't think these people, as radical and misguided as they may be, are that stupid.

it is not that hard to get it in here, or they are already in place.

Now he is not a superman... I'll tell you what other historical figure he reminds me off, Tito... he was no superman either, but ask the germans how the occupation went.

I'm serious... what OBL is, and we no longer are, is a student of Tsun Tsu the Art of War, he knows our weaknesses, we don't know who we are fighting.

I was a commercial fisherman there.I was invited to be a smuggler there.

There is no port on an island off the coast of South Carolina in fact. There is no island of the coast of Charleston South Carolina either.

One must enter the Cooper/Ashley River sail past Fort Sumter (Home of WW2 controlled minefields) and at that point the Wondo River (The forgotten river) and the various terminals become accessible.

I have also voyaged numerous times through Port Georgetown. I have never been to Port Royal.

About 25 or so years ago a TV movie was made in Charleston wherein an Atomic Bomb was smuggled into the Harbor aboard a tugboat. It was a pretty stupid movie. Perhaps your source saw that movie.

The movie 1983 'Special Bulletin' made for TV on video tape only..

Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 07:33 AM by DistressedAmerican
I am extremely skeptical that this correct.

My main problem is the notion that Bin Laden And crew have "4-5 dozen terrorist nuclear weapons within the U.S." At best I find that wildly implausable. Most countries cannot get enough fissile material for one bomb and Al Qeada supposedly has 4 to 5 dozen. Seriously doubt it.

One or two I see as possible. The entire secenario scares the shit out of me though.

14. Don't be absurd
Too much damage ... Bush would have failed to protect America from a major terror attack. There is political dynamite in the assertion that weapons and personnel have been brought across the porous border with Mexico ... a border Bush has refused to control. (Better to perform rectal examinations on American citizens at airports than keep undocumented people from entering the country en masse, ya know.)

Oh ... but ... I am assuming these ass clowns are thinking rationally. Just because no sane person would think that way means these Darth Vader wannabes don't. Pardon me. I stand corrected.

24. There's a difference, though.
A generalized threat of attack is quite different from a nuclear attack. AQ doesn't have nukes. If they did, they would have used them on 9/11. It's entirely possible, though, that they might attack in some other way in August, or September, or tomorrow. I'm certainly not laughing at those possibilities. But the article was nothing but hyperbolic speculation.

I just wanted to be a little clearer.

that said those telling the story are by large fans of the neocon strategy .Now knowing that Bin ladin and his were trained by those same dukian CIA characters it sounds plausible .What makes it really plausible though is the fact that since 911 * has done everything to make Bin ladin jump up and down in hoops .Instead of combating terrorism he might just call it my big hug to my fellow fear spreading chums .

So yeah i fear a whole new shitstorm might be hitting the fan .catapulting us one leaugue closer to a world which is too fucked up to be .

That said it's also possible the black hole in the center of our galaxy might suck us all out of existence , so the best way to go aboet my bussiness still seems leisurly carelessness about all those big things we so eloquently screw up , enjoying as i go .

"The plot outlined in this lurid exposé is a frightening one: Osama bin Laden has nuclear weapons—lots of them—and is preparing to use them to create "an American Hiroshima." Williams, a journalist, former FBI consultant and author of The Vatican Exposed: Money, Murder and the Mafia, contends that bin Laden has purchased of dozens low-yield Russian "suitcase" atomic bombs and gotten his hands on enough weapons-grade uranium to build Hiroshima-sized 10-kiloton devices, and that one nuclear device may already have been smuggled into America. Contrary to the subtitle, Williams relies heavily on media reports to flesh out the arch-terrorist’s nuclear intrigues, detailing bin Laden’s lucrative heroin trafficking operations, his ties to the Chechen mafia and to Pakistani nuclear scientists, and his network of thousands of sleeper agents in the United States."

well, that nuclear weapons will be used by someone, somewhere...there's just been way too much proliferation of them over the last 40 years or so. The whole Pakistani nuclear program scares the shit out of me.

I'd also point out that wrecking CIA anti-WMD operations by compromising NOC officers and entire front companies doesn't help with the odds of delaying such a disaster. Neither does ridiculous tough talk ("bring it on", etc.), international aggression, or making as many fresh enemies as possible by ignoring all international treaties, killing loads of civilians, torturing people, and so on.

http://soapbox.townhall.com/?op=displaystory;sid=2005/7/16/16489/8845
THE AMERICAN HIROSHIMA

According to Williams' sources, thousands of al-Qaida sleeper agents have now been forward deployed into the U.S. to carry out their individual roles in the coming "American Hiroshima" plan...

There is virtually no doubt among intelligence analysts al-Qaida has obtained fully assembled nuclear weapons, according to Williams. The only question is how many. Estimates range between a dozen and 70. The breathtaking news is that an undetermined number of these weapons, including suitcase bombs, mines and crude tactical nuclear weapons, have already been smuggled into the U.S. – at least some across the U.S.-Mexico border...

WASHINGTON, July 20 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The failure of action by the Bush Administration to fully protect Americans from the terrorist threat of weapons of mass destruction was addressed today by Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, who stood with members of the National Security Advisory Group, chaired by former Defense Secretary William J. Perry. Perry delivered a report to the leaders titled, "Worst Weapons in Worst Hands: U.S. Inaction on the Nuclear Terror Threat Since 9/11, And A Path Of Action," which details the significant shortcomings by the Bush Administration to contain these weapons and materials and offers key recommendations that will help to protect Americans from this threat.

"The most important threat we face is the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, yet this Administration's missteps in Iraq have made tackling that threat so much harder," said Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid. "This report shows we must keep our eye on the ball."

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said: "The report concludes that the U.S. is fighting a global war on terrorism, but not a global war on weapons of mass destruction. The Administration has failed policies on weapons programs in North Korea and Iran, on securing loose nuclear material in Russia and elsewhere, and on strengthening the world's nuclear nonproliferation system," "The lack of leadership by the Bush Administration in these areas has made the American people less safe than they should be."

36. WorldNetDaily is so **right-wing**! They call Bill Moyers "evil."
WorldNetDaily.com's publisher, Joseph Farah, is totally right-wing. He makes up Hollywood "traitors" lists, and prattles on about Bill Moyers' "evil motivations." It should NOT be trusted as a source of anything, except the usual RW bullshit. :grr:

I think I have finally met a person who is my polar opposite.

If there were a parallel universe and each one of us had an opposite personality, this fellow would be mine.

This is a guy who is wrong about everything. Even when he's right, he's wrong because of his evil motivations.

Who is this man?

It's Bill Moyers, the political activist masquerading as a journalist and living the comfortable, taxpayer-subsidized life at PBS.

with this story. There will be millions sick and dead and the country basically destroyed. Certain people want to destroy this country and we all know that. What dates they choose and how they choose to do it, they can probably get away with it. Our country is basically unprotected

45. Things must be really bad for Bu$h
if they're dragging old hacks like Steve Quayle out to create more terror noise. I haven't seen him around since the 2004 selection.

The guy is quack and a fear-monger. He doesn't know shit.

49. I'm far more worried about a 'petroleum apocalypse'...
...than an 'american hiroshima'.

Given our present course and speed, a disastrous loss of our petroleum energy base within the next decade or two is about 99.9% certain. There is clearly not enough time to painlessly switch to an alternative energy infrastructure given our political dysfunction. It's going to hurt. A lot.

With world demand growing at the rate it is now, there will be critical shortages within less than 10 years (probably less than 5 years) even if production can remain at it's current rate -- which it almost certainly can't, given how much water injection they are using to maximize capacity right now.

But I suppose it's not as flashy as nuclear detonations...

54. Nosw, now the sources are troubling for this
that said... this has been a rumor for a while... that is that OBL has a nuke or two.

Now lets try to examine the evidence.

The Saudis have wanted an Arab Nuclear program... this is a fact not dreams, heck some even say they funded Hussein's program back in the 80s before the Israelis went in

We have the Khan Nulcear Market Place (Yes the one that Valerie Plane was after)

We also know that lord knows what technology left to points unknown before it was closed

Look folks the risk of a nuke is there, but I would worry far more of the MAD declaration of the Chinese at this point than OBLs nuclear capabitlies. If he uses them... all that Bush has done will be justified and you will national armies and intelligence services comb every corner of the world with intense prejudice... somehow I suspect OBL is more intelligent than this
