Anybody for Kucinich in 2008?

I am less inclined to support any....ANY Democratic candidate that wants to "stay the course" in Iraq and Afghanistan. I voted for Kerry in 2004 and now I regret it. I was told not vote a third party candidate and I did not. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! Dennis Kucinich wants the troops to come home now. He had a decent run for president in 2004. What do you guys think of another Kucinich run in 2008?

5. I love the K-man! A Dept. of Peace to counterbalance the DOD

10. Out of the entire Democratic party,

Kucinich is the only one who will get my support in '08. Dennis doesn't take any corporate cash, which is important to me, since I feel that it is corporate cash in politics that has gotten this country where it is now. Also, Kucinich has not and does not support this illegal, immoral war. I might reconsider somebody else later, but whoever it is will have to meet these two criteria with me, otherwise they will not get my vote.

If the Democratic party tosses up another pro-war, pro-corporate candidate in '08, I will be voting Green. The party is very, very unresponsive to the issues I mentioned, and since they haven't responded to the "change the party from within" tactics over the past thirty plus years, then perhaps they will repond when their monetary and voting support disappears.

...and I would definitely support his 2008 campaign. I don't think he's "mainstream" enough to get the democratic vote in the primary, but he would make an excellent president! Especially after all the corruption in many recent presidencies.

What I liked about him in 2004 was his record of fighting big business despite the personal political costs. Also his desire to de-criminalize marijuana. I wasn't aware of his wanting to make a dept of peace, but it sounds right up his ally (mine as well).

Did anyone notice on the first of the new episodes of Family Guy, the bumper sticker on the Toyota Prius that Brian was driving around was "Kucinich '04"... gave me a good laugh.

I would return to the US and volunteer all my extra time in service of the country if he were elected President, because I would know that I was doing something of genuine constructive value.

In contrast, I sold almost everything I had, closed out everything, and left the country in 2000 after Bu*h was selected by the Supreme Court, because there was no way that lying thieving fascist mass murderer was ever going to get a dime of my money to support his evil deeds. He can find someone else to finance his murder of innocents and his destruction of democracy.

That lack of response says to me that some might be willing to vote, but too few are willing to actually do the hard work needed to get the word out about him and his politics so that he's not 'Dennis who?'.

Which means he's not going to be President-elect in 2008.

We need progressive PCOs and candidates for local office (and a LOT of them), the kind of people who will be in place to advocate for the most progressive Democrat running in 2008. Have we learned nothing from the mistake the Rainbow Coalition made in tying its organizational existence to the presidential ambitions of Jesse Jackson?

Kucinich will have a wife in 2008, and while that may make many take him more seriously, he may have a lot of reservations about putting her through what the media put Teresa Kerry and Judy Dean through. (Though if her attitude is "Bring it on," that would put a different light on things.)

--who will be there for Kucinich or for the best of the lot of other progressive should Kucinich decide that isn't what he wants to do. We need a farm club of public officeholders at local levels who can step up when state or national positions become vacant. These are the core people who have to be organized enough to do this.

Personally, if I were a administrator, I would give week-long bans to anyone who starts an '08 speculation thread prior to at the very earliest November 2006.

We have one Supreme Confirmation coming, with maybe one or two more in the next three years.

We have an election in '06.

We have state parties in shambles.

We have Karl Rove behaving like Tom Hagen in the White House.

And '08 is important? Why?

I haven't made up my mind on who to support yet, but I'll weigh all the candidates when they all get in the race. A long way off really. If DK enters the race and I decide he's the best candidate for my ideals, I'd be proud to vote for him again. He's a great man.

Now don't get me wrong--I feel strongly that Howard Dean and Wesley Clark made and are still making a positive input to the Democratic Party. But, at least in the primary season we need someone who will carry the banner of the true progressive. By that I mean someone who will stand in strong opposition to the globalization of corporate power and against the ultra-militarism that dominates both parties.
One who will unequivocally stand for single-payer universal health care and a fundamental restructuring of our governments' priorities.

Is that too much to ask? At least in the primaries?
