Poll question: Is your spouse or significant other a republican?

A couple a days ago, I did a poll asking what percentage of your family is republican. This poll, cuts to the point, is your spouse or significant other a republican?

Please don't consider any ex-spouses or ex-boyfriends or ex-girlfriends. Just who you are with currently.

I can imagine older DUers who have been married for a long time may have Republican S/O's.

But, as a non-married 23 year old, I don't see how any liberal in my age group could date a Republican. I just don't understand it.

We grew up under Clinton and now Bush, and I just can't respect anyone who even thinks Bush is a decent, honest man.

But he was a Repuke when I met him 15 years ago although he's always been a liberal on social issues. He was misinformed and supposedly based his party affliation on "economic & business" reasons. :eyes:

My wife is a Conservative so close enough to a republican but moderate. She is very much against what the Bush administration is doing but I am the outspoken. I am New Democrat (Social Democrat).

My wife is conservative. We have open minded discussions concerning politics. I find myself agreeing with what she says just as much as she agrees with me on points. Whats funny is she was raised in a well to do Democratic/Catholic family.

14. My hub is a republican but not a repig....

he's a moderate...until you say things against bush or any of the liers on TV. His whole sense of dignity and intelligence goes out the window. He has a PhD and yet he repeats the crap Fox and criminals throw out. We've been married for too long. I just ignore his comments. I've caught him talking against bush with his retired Army neighbor and they stop talking when I walk in the room. That's a good sign.

Been married 13 years to a Republican. Been working on him to change for 13 years. Never was much of an issue until 2000 and didn't speak to him for a long time after he voted for Stupid. I keep him well informed because of DU and he's coming around. He's much more conservative than I but we agree on what's important to us: women's issues and the environment. I'll get him to change one of these days. At least he voted for Kerry and votes Dem locally.

Both my wife and I are Democrats,

Our 13-year old daughter is. Two years ago she had test in her sixth-grade class that asked who the president is. She answered "Al Gore." Of course the teacher marked it wrong, but now she understands the sacrifice one must make at times to uphold the conviction of their beliefs.

Our 7-year son draws pictures of Bush in jail...

He had a problem with logical thinking, too.

Here is one example:
When he was laid off and fumbling with how he was going to earn a living, his income was significantly reduced. I asked him why he didn't go to court to have his child support reduced to a level he could manage. He said, "I am not going to deny my boys what I owe them." So he borrowed to pay their mother the full amount that month and never made another child support payment.

The wife and I are liberal Dems and my two daughters are liberals as well. My 10 yr. old girl still has a collage poster she made with pictures of Kerry & Edwards from magazines last fall. Both girls can name all of their elected officials from the Prez on down and whether they are Dem or Repub.

I couldn't fathom an intimate relationship with a conservative Repub. The sex would be way too boring. }(

I got married 16 years ago. Back then, political affiliation did not make much of a difference. I realized Mr. Suziq was a fellow Democrat when he came with me when I voted for David Dinkins for NYC mayor and he was 100% behind me.

Actually she was in transition. She had always voted R, until 1992, when she voted for Perot. We met in 1995, and she registered as D and voted for Clinton in 1996, and for Dems ever since.

After 21 years of marriage and a lot of political/philosophical discussions, she has done a major turnaround over the years.
