Does anyone else think this drought is going to cause

problems? The farmers already in great debt with aid cut also, are not going to have a very good crop this year, fire is now a threat accross the nation not just out west. The paper this morning says this is a record breaking draught, the worst in 135 years...says some rivers and lakes are so shallow that the ducks can stand on the bottems of the rivers and lakes....I think food prices will increase, some produce will be scarce and God forbid if a fire starts in some of these little communities with no water...


Is this the start of another dust bowl era?

It's been dry for three weeks here only about .35 inches of rain. I am concerned about what will happen if it lasts much long.

I am in eastern Iowa and it is really bad here. I wasn't aware other parts of the country were in bad shape also.

did their show from Iowa this morning. The corn looked withered.We took vacation 2 years ago. Iowa is so beautiful.

10. I'm really really worried about this...

I'm in nothern Illinois, extreme drought zone (red) according to that map. We haven't had a solid rainy day or a good honest soak since May, seriously. It's got to where I dread the sight of that cloudless sky and bright sun.

OK, I'm in Chicago, which is not exactly an agricultural center. A co-worker of mine's family has a farm and she's really panicking. You can see it here in people's lawns and parks too. A lot of plants just don't look good.
